worst NHL franchise of all time?

Is it one of the worst threads ever though? Some threads die with just one post (like my collectable plate discussion one), should they count or do threads need to have more posts to be truly bad? Do threads from the swamp count or was the slate wiped clean during the switch?

Some bad threats have good posts in them. Who could forget that "NHL needs to get back on the swamp to succeed" thread where one north if the border poster admitted that it burned so bad when he urinated that he sat down to go? Great stuff. (side note - did there pills work?)

Some threads seem great at first but don't stand the rest of time. Like 43's "Vista sets a new standard of greatness" thread or Elocomotive's "Percy Jackson will be bigger than Harry Potter" thread? Do they count retroactively?

Lately what makes a thread bad? Is indifference bad or actual dislike more important?

Highlight of the thread is the Doobster bringing up the Montreal Wanderers. How often does that happen in your typical thread???

My pick for worst franchise is the Washington Capitals. My reasoning is simple. They had the worst record in NHL history for a season. Until some team breaks their record for mediocrity the Caps are the worst.

Well they've never won the Cup. They've had some really good players though. The league taking Stevens away hurt the franchise in a HUGE way.

True, but a lot of teams haven't won the Cup. I think that 1974-75 season sort of gives them an edge over other Cupless teams.

But yeah you can make a legit argument for the Cap's but my pick is still the Blue Jackets and defunct would have to be the Barons/Seals.

Yeah the Blues had him taken away because they signed Shanahan. The Capitals should have matched the offersheet Stevens received from St. Louis. They had the makings of a great defense before he left. The Blue Jackets haven't been in the league long enough for me to even put them in the running.
