worst NHL franchise of all time?

The Doobster posted this twice, he really wants to make this argument.

There could be an argument for them as one of the worst NHL teams I guess. Still, it was in the first year of the league when it wasnt really on solid ground itself. Since the question is "NHL" team I guess one could ignore the sucess the Wanderers had before the league creation.

Either way, no team folding in the inagural season of a sports league would get my vote.

If the New York Americans get a mention then the Wanderers should for sure get a mention IMO.

I wouldnt even consider the Americans one of the worst. They did last a while and won some playoff series. Might just be me.

What about the Pittsburgh Pirates aka Philadelphia Quakers? They had a good run for a little while before they moved to Philly & folded.

lol, I never heard of them before. Color me dumb.

In my opinion modern teams that are not sucessful are worse than early teams that failed. Nowadays the league structure itself is sound and teams have multiple revenue sources available that they did not in the early days. Also the first decades of the league were not sound financial times for a lot of the continent.

The Lightning have a good team, and seem to be run well... They're just in an awful market. Hurricanes can get mention there as well, but they have had much more success than the Panthers and the Coyotes.

So, if we're going by current teams, I'd say Coyotes and Panthers.
