Blue Jackets & Jets have yet to win a playoff game. They're pretty much tied from a hockey perspective. I guess you could give them a pass because they haven't been around long, but they've been around long enough to have won just 1 playoff game.

Speaking of douchiness, Doobster was wondering why I can't like my own posts? I got used to liking my own posts on Facebook & ESPN, perhaps we can introduce that feature to SportsHoopla? Doobster would appreciate it, thanks

Maybe because it's impossible to like your own posts in the third person. That or they just don't like how fucking annoying that whole thing is.

Things to consider.

I've considered, but I would still like to like my own posts.

Thread moved to the penalty box as it has totally gone off the rails.

The Leafs won more cups consecutively than 23 current NHL teams have won in their entire existence.

Yeah, the team with the 2nd most Stanley Cup wins is the worst all-time. Good lord.

Can you read?Have mommy and daddy help you with the big words.

In the 6 team era(where they got most of their cups, they were relevant. What have they done since 67?

As for your argument, about 2nd most Cups-they,ve been around longer than most teams.

You keep being happy with their lack of playoff experience,or early exits from them if they do manage to get in.

Having lived in Cleveland when they moved there, I agree with that.

The long-suffering Leafs (who are one of the NHL’s most storied franchises) have been the subject of ridicule by hockey fans for the last nine years. Coaching strife, player turnover and management blunders gave them the distinction of being the ONLY team in the NHL to not make the playoffs between the 2004-05 lockout and the 2012-13 lockout.

Think about that for a second.

Every single other team in the league made the playoffs during that span except for one of the most profitable and supported franchises in all of sports. The Atlanta Thrashers made it in, and they don’t even exist anymore.

They were a lot more than "relevant". As I mentioned earlier in this same thread, if winning 13 cups in 50 years before expansion was so easy why did Boston, Chicago, Detroit and New York only manage to win 16 combined in the same period?

As far as reading comprehension goes, you should have probably figured out that saying that they're not "the worst franchise of all-time" is not even close to the same thing as saying that I'm "happy with their lack of playoff experience, or early exits from them if they do manage to get in".

If you want to make the argument that they're the worst since expansion that argument probably holds water. But arguing that they're the worst of all-time is a rather difficult case to make.

The NHL has been around for almost 100 years. The context in this thread is "all-time".

The Devils/Rockies had runs where they missed the playoffs for 9 straight seasons and for 12 of 13, and many of those were at a time when 16 of 21 teams made the postseason. But they're not being mentioned because people are looking at their entire history, as was the whole point of this thread.

Sort of feel for Leaf fans. Their team has 13 Cups yet they're still classified as a Cupless team by those who are ignorant of NHL history.

California Golden Seals. I grew up going to their games. Pathetic. Almost built a rink in downtown SF early on but politics crushed it. Could have been different if Charlie Finley didn't own (abuse?) that team.

Columbus, Atlanta, or Florida

Leave Atlanta out of this. We have officially and irrevocably kicked hockey out of this town for good. If the Hawks and Falcons can't win a title in the next 15 years or so, they are next. We do not and refuse to support perennial losers in Atlanta. If you want to win then prove it, spend some money and win. If not GET OUT OF HERE!

Coyotes will never be a perm team in the dessert. They've had some nice playoff runs but the past 10 years they have had no offense and relied solely on defense and goaltending. I love how grindy they area dn how hard they work but it's tough as a fan when not a lot of picks work out and we have never landed a superstar forward.
