Plenty of decisions to make. Do have to love that Morse can be in that lineup as the DH.

Lincecum debate will be interesting. Didn't warm up in NLCS, was only going to go in 19th inning of NLDS. Shouldn't be on the roster but will Bochy put him on for "appearance"

Tim needs to be a good soldier like Zito in 2010 and just withdraw himself. How must he be feeling tonight? Yeah he's happy but the team is spraying champagne and he's thinking 'I didn't do shit'

Then, do you put another reliever (Kontos? Gutierrez?) or maybe another speed guy like Brown?

Any other reliever will be rusty as hell (as would Timmy!). Look how rusty Wacha was...

And I guess you bring Strickland back but is that debatable?

I was just thinking about that in terms of Kontos. Might be too long of a rest.

What about a guy like Duvall? Morse will be your DH. Need another power bat off the bench.

Brown is another option though.

What are the alternatives to Timmeh?

Kontos
Cordier
Gutierrez
Brown

I would prefer the extra pitcher. Especially when we really don't need to worry about PH in the first 2 games. But Brown could bring the Ford-Factor.

I think Timmeh stays, but I can't defend it logically, since I don't believe he belongs.

KC is scarier than Detroit 2012 and Texas 2010. They are gonna run wild on Buster.

I hope our guys know how to hit 99 mph fastballs from their relievers

Over on CSN Shawn Estes points out Bum is our best matchup vs KC's lefties and also he knows how to control the running game somewhat. I hope the coaches work on pitcher's moves to first and such

Their stadium is going to be crazy loud. Clubhouse is very similar to ours in terms of family-like, fun.

Shields hasn't been great this postseason, getting to him with runs early will be biggest key. Really just attacking the SP's.

No clue how we handle their speed

Do we have any lefty relievers to bring up? It seems like Patty and JLo get used up facing one guy, then when we need a lefty later in the game, we are all out.

I think Timmah ought to sit this one out. I'd be OK with Kontos. Not sure Cordier is ready, and JGut really sucked towards the end of the seaon. And Noggin won't play Brown anyway, so there is no gain there.

I love, love, love that we have kids playing (Panik, Susser, Duffy, Strickland, etc.)

Best way I know of to control the running game is keep them off the bases. Not sure how many they have but I do know the top 2 in the order are the keys.

I think we are learning that we need to add one more LOOGY next season.

We have ONE other lefty on the 40. Kick-man

Cal beat me to it, so now I look for something relevant to add to my post. Uhhhh.......

One of the keys is keeping Aoki of base the 3rd time through the line up. If he gets on, Yost usually Pinch Runs with Dyson and then it is game on.

Moustakas in the 9 hole has been huge in the Playoffs....if we can get through him with Affeldt, and save Javy for Hosmer, we should be ok. The rest of their squad is Right Handed hitters.

I like the match up.

Go Giants!

Well, forgot about Gordon......but Javy vs Hosmer, Butler and Gordon could work.

They do run a lot, but the A's game madness will not happen if our pitchers do their job. Lester doesn't throw over and Norris doesn't have a great arm, so they took advantage because they have good team speed. They did lead the league in steals, but I can only remember 1 steal in the ALCS, maybe they had more and I know Dyson got thrown out once as well. Buster has the arm and quick release to shut them down but, its gonna be on the pitchers to give him a chance.

As far as Lincecum goes, I'm not sure there are better options to add on to the roster.
Brown- not a great base stealer which should be his best attribute and with only 3 possible games w/o a DH he would never PH. I saw someone mention Ford when talking about Brown, but Ford was a far better base stealer and had good instincts on the base paths.

Duvall- Wouldn't hate him being added, but again with the DH I don't see the need. At home Morse or Ishikawa or even Susac are better options for PH. You saw how they talked about Morse and his lack of ABs in September, but Duvall only had 12 ABs in September and he's been watching since the season finale which will be 3+ weeks when game 1 starts.

Kontos- makes the most sense if they replaced Timmy. He pitched well this year, is actually good against LHB in his career, but he does walk them at a much higher rate then RHB. With the long layoff and being a righty, just don't see them adding him.

Gutierrez- 5.40 ERA 1.54 whip post all-star break. No chance.

I think if Hector was healthy in September he would be a legitimate option.

I just don't see it happening. If there was a lefty to add then I think Bochy would do it. Timmy has been successful on this stage before and I think you go with the experience over these rather weak options available. If we go into a blowout early, I'd rather have Timmy to eat up the innings and not waste Petit instead of having Duvall and him getting maybe 1 AB.

I don't know the stats but isn't Posey just average at best at throwing out runners? That said yes the pitchers have to help him.

I just have a bad feeling about this one. We were the team of destiny in 2010, KC has that feel now. On the other hand, we have far more experience, let's see how they react when down in a game or after they lose one. I think it's more important than normal that we win game 1, so they taste losing for the first time this postseason. Let's see how it affects them. We have the experience edge, by far the better manager, bullpen same (different styles equally effective), more power (weird to say that). defense pretty close (except LF for us obviously)...the crazy train rolls on

Your analysis of who to pick for that 25th roster spot is pretty good...not like we have someone so much obviously better than Timmy. Which is sad as hell. Pagan we miss ya! Although healthy Pagan = no Ishikawa starting...

Baseball, she is crazy.

I hadn't thought of Duval as an option, but I think Reefer nailed it on him. He is too rusty and would still be pretty much the last option as a pinch hitter, so really doesn't add anything more than what a mop up guy offers.

Damn you, Gary Brown, for having no fucking clue how to use your God-given talents.

IBWT, but I think Kontos should have been added to the NLCS roster. Then he would not have Wacha Disease.

I think you have to go with Knotos. I don't believe that Timmy is an option. I don't think he ever was. He's rusty and not really a reliever by choice. If you look at the BAL and KC series you get a sense that it's all about pitching and an ability to scrathch out some runs. The O's had the most HRs in the majors and didn't mesan anything. The KC pitching shut them down. The KC BP is excellent. But the O's pitching also kept KC at a low scoring rate. Just not low enough. The O's version of FYWW is also pretty good. The real issue I see with KC is their speed. Seems every freaking single turns into a double after the SB. Lead off singles are deadly. As they say .... speed kills ..... the only way to stop that is to keep them off the bases ... especisally early in the inning ...

Another point i just thought of ... we've had discussions about moving runners over and how Boch hates it .... the Royals had 6 sacrifice hits (same as us) ... but they were done with position players .... not pitchers. They used it as an offense weapon. Much different mind set than us ...
