I had to laugh. That batter who thought he had the homer reminded me of 1 of my last ab's as an all-star in my 10-12 league. I was one of the smallest players in the league. I nailed one dead center (this was in the days of the wood bats) that thought was my first over the fence homer. Instead, it hit the top rail of the fence and bounced back into the field. Guess who was still standing at home admiring his supposed HR? I got thrown out at 2nd.

Well, let's separate your all-time greats from the guys who pitch today. But, the main thing is an entire change in philosophy in the game. Everyone is specialized and the more expensive players are coddled because they make 20 million a year.
