Would make sense if WBC is going away if that is true.

Of course we do.

Even if we were to concede that DR and PR are more talented teams, that doesn't mean we have no chance to beat them. The Cubs were head and shoulders the best team in MLB in 2016, and they lost twelve games against the five 90+ loss teams in the NL.

Further, given the SF Giants' recent history, I found it odd that a Giants fan would suggest that a team would have no chance to win just one game against a team with superior talent.

Exactly. And we very possibly only have to beat one of them at this point to advance. I think that's very possible, if not likely.
