Once again, same question.
Lue was already there and you weren't naming him as a successor, now amongst another list of names.
I heard that Thibs would have been the coach if they pulled the trigger in the offseason- but they OBVIOUSLY cant get guys that have jobs during the season right now like Cal, Izzo etc. and i personally did not know that Griffin had heard bad things about Mark Jackson and there was no chance he was getting hired-

and then felt Lue got close enough to LEBron to have it be an advantage.- once Lue had established a positive relationship with and trust with the whole locker room- it became a lot easier.

but yah- i KNOW they thought about Thibs

Karl wouldn't want any part of James' bullshit that he'd have to accept in Cleveland.
He's a real coach

They can start a new search in 5 months, cause unless something drastically changes, you think anyone is beating Warriors 4/7?

George Karl would gargle with the sweat off of DeAndre Jordan's nutsack if it meant he got to coach LEBron, Love and Kyrie.

all though you have a point---- every coach that has ever lived would LOVE to put up with DeMarcus Cousins bullshit- but LEBron Jame's? NO fucking way, LOL....wow....:dhd:

I'd agree he'd love to coach them, but not under Gilbert, because he knows where his loyalty has to lie.
It's a horrible situation for any coach right now.
Maybe when James doesn't have an annual opt out, which will be never.

coaching LeBron is no doubt a pain in the ass

you get all the blame and none of the credit

why i am encouraged about the Lue hire is that LeBron is behind the move. I dont think LeBron has ever played for a coach that he actually has liked before. I think Griffin was actually pretty damn crafty by taking away Blatt who LeBron and the team seemed to be using as an excuse. EVen from the Miami stuff we know its not like he was ever warm with spoelstra- I am actually really intrigued to see LeBron with a coach that for the first time ever he likes.

He should have liked Spoelstra because he was the first coach in LeBrons life that actually wasn't afraid of him and actually got on his ass and coached him.
It lead to the best play, and best results that James will ever have.

As far as now, no doubt James will do everything he can to try to show everyone that the change was the correct move.

To me though, the only way it matters is if they win it all.

Otherwise he's no further or closer then he was at the end of last season.

yah i totally agree....i think it was smart by Griffin to remove any excuses or impediments LeBron has....obviously its the right move and its not "indifferent" if it gets LeBron giving effort at the level you are suggesting. this isnt just about feeling sympathetic for blatt is it?

I've never not seen James give max effort in a game.
I know he's past giving max effort for the entire game because at this stage of his career, he can't.
I told you the complacency started year 3 here in Miami.

As far as Blatt, I couldn't care less.
No sympathy from me.
I knew where he stood the day James announced he was going back there but had yet to meet or even talk with his new 'coach', and I said it way back then.

You assholes better watch out, Love had a great game against the Suns. He's clearly going to set all sorts of records from here on out.

A Heat minority owner actually came out and said that Lebron tried to have Spoelstra fired at one point. Thoughts?

He has since denied that he ever said that.... and backtracked on his claim that LeBron had Blatt fired, saying that it was only an opinion. Of course those statements aren't being nearly as widely reported as his original one.

Of course, some might see the backtracking as less genuine than the original statement, which I would understand.

Several miami sports guys including LeBatard, Jackson, & Winderman don't seem to think the guy is too credible, so I don't think too much of it.

I agree with this, no way to know
BUT, I heard an interview with James from yesterday where James is claiming he doesn't even know who Katz is, and has never even met him when that is a 100000% lie.
Katz and his wife sit Courtside every game, in the same 2 seats, next to the scorers table and several players greet them every game during intros.
I've seen James do it dozens of times.
I've seen him kiss Mrs Katz on the cheek.

Yeah, I saw I think it was Winderman that said something about that.

I wonder if LeBron just didn't connect who they were talking about when the quote from Katz was thrown at him or whether he was pulling an intentional "who is this guy that doesn't matter".

LeBron knew exactly who it was/is.
He didn't make a habit out of greeting/kissing strangers in Courtside seats.
Katz is always around the team.
I'm not saying Katz was part of anything to do with personal decisions because I'm fairly certain that isn't the case.

i never said LEbron had nothing to do with it...go back and look. Obviously LeBron wanted the change. But like I said- if the Cavs listened to LeBron Blatt would have been gone last January. The problem was WAAAY bigger than LeBron- it was the whole locker room--- and when you have a guy like Peter Vescey who is one of the best old school NBA reporters of all time tweeting that in the days before the firing that David Blatt said "Its either me or Kevin Love"- its hard for me to put it all on LeBron. Without a doubt if you are a coach and cant have a good working relationship with LeBron your gone- but it was a lot more than just that which led to Blatt's dismissal.

Here's the problem. It may not be all Lebron, but Lebron is the unquestioned leader of that team and really that franchise. His teammates follow his lead. If he doesn't give a coach a chance, neither does the rest of the team. Had Lebron actually given Blatt a chance instead of being openly defiant, the rest of the team would have fallen in line.

Then, if the end result was that Blatt got fired, at least it could be said that the man was given a fair chance. As things played out, it's a bad look for both Lebron and the franchise.

If reports are true and Blatt would yell at other players for Lebron's mistakes. That's where Blatt fucked up, imo.

I do agree that you treat superstars a little differently and allow them to "freelance" in your system (both MJ and Kobe operated outside of the triangle quite often). But, a mistake is a mistake and Blatt should have gotten on him for those just like he did everyone else. The rules for superstars can't be THAT different.
