There's been a lot of negativity surrounding the American performance but lost in the shuffle is that eight (!) of the final 16 in Boys Singles are Americans. This is the best group of juniors we've had in at least 20 years, and there is enough depth that even if a couple flameout, there are likely some top 25 players there. We'll have to go through another 3-5 years of hopelessness, but there are better days ahead.
Being good in Juniors doesn't necessarily translate into shining as a pro for American players.
correct
"it's a different ballgame" is a good way to put it
and not just for americans
in the past 10 years, only 3 players (4 as of this coming monday) who have won junior grand slams on the men's side have made the top 10:
Monfils
Murray
Cilic
Dimitrov (will crack the top 10 next week when new rankings come out)
it's exceedingly rare for top 10 juniors to make even the top 50 on the atp
here are the year-end top 10 junior players from 2004-2011. i figure that it's too early to tell for most of the guys who were playing juniors between 2012-present.
junior rankings are heavily contingent on performance at the junior majors.
i guess "heavily correlated" is relative...for some people.

I honestly have no idea who's playing. I do know that Kerber & Halep are in the semis.
