Just back from suspension and throws a nice head shot at Seabrook of the Hawks without playing the puck.

If someone can find a video of this please post it. Thanks.

BTW. I think it's a suspendable play.

That's the kind of hit the league is trying to get rid of, Boss...I think jojo is probably right on with 3 games, although the league might think Torres didn't get the previous message and give him 4 games.

the biggest problem the NHL faces right now.. if seabrook had been helped up and taken to the locker room, if even for 5-10 minutes (aka he could fake it if he wanted), this would probably end torres' season..

since seabrook only spent a second on the ground, 2-4 games

But he did end up leaving the bench and going to the locker for awhile so the league being as well policed as it is, will probably see that too.

doubt that . BUT u never know , with Raffi coming back from the same type of hit they might want to make an example of him .

Exactly right, it was just to recent with him for them not to slam him. It wasn't an overly malicious hit, but you could damn well tell he lined him up and didn't let up at all. The recent suspension is whats going to kill him.

Thats true but like everyone said since he just came back he's most likely looking at alteast a 10 spot.

at first the homer in me cried foul on the penalty. but it was what it was. dirty hit. but one of those in the old NHL clean as could be and celebrated as a massive hit and game changer. in the new NHL its at the head level regardless how Seabrook turned into it or how fast it was. I say 5 games

whats sad was they called it interference. .. really? wow

MacKenzie has some pretty good insight on it (read from bottom up)

Finally, opinions are well and good, we all have them, but I see my job more to provide insight than rant a view. Hope I offered something.

My opinion, based on Torres' penchant for hitting people in head, is he should be suspended. But I don't think he will be.

My prediction of what happens, based on DVD of March, 2010, and "hitting area" rationale, is as follows: Don't believe he'll be suspended.

So what happens now? NHL will review it and, IMO, 1 of 2 things happens. Torres (repeat offender), gets LONG suspension OR he goes free.

Remember, in the NHL, there are circumstances where a shoulder hitting an unsuspecting or vulnerable player in the head is entirely legal.

The other big issue is principal point of contact. Was it a straight on body check where shoulder also struck head or a "head shot."??

In other words, as one NHL GM told me tonight, a hit behind net is viewed more like a north-south hit than an east-west neutral zone hit...

In March/2010, DVD went to players, coaches, GMs saying exactly that, far more latitude given on hits behind net on unsuspecting players.

When NHL GMs created Rule 48, they allowed area behind net is "hitting area" and players need to be more aware than, say, in neutral zone.

My first reaction was classic case of Rule 48. Blindside hit, principal pt of contact to head or targeted head shot. That's my view, BUT...

I dont know, I dont think he tried to hurt him, i think he went in for the hit and didnt slow up as the puck went by Seabrook. 2 games max.

It will be interesting to see how this pans out tomorrow.

EDIT: I have been reading about this hit all night. Not sure if it deserves a suspension.
