I think, for the first time in 3 years, there will be.

Currently 70 are in and 39 are out.

We need 8 spots filled by the remaining 21 teams.

There are 8 5-6 teams that play each other next weekend, so 4 will get in
and 4 will be eliminated.

We'll change the totals to

74 In and 43 out.

(Note: Ole Miss is currently 5-6 but not counted because they have self-imposed a bowl ban
for this season)

We need to fill 4 spots from the remaining 13 teams.

Here they are.

5-6 Texas Tech @ Texas. Tech will be an underdog

5-5 Ga Tech vs UGA (Tech only has 11 games) They will be an underdog

5-6 Duke @ Wake Forest (Wake is the better team but these two teams always play
good games vs each other because they are a physical match-up for each other) I
still think Duke is an underdog

4-6 Florida State @ Florida and then vs ULM on 12-2. Toss-up with the Gates and if
successful a favorite over ULM

5-6 Temple @ Tulsa Tulsa is capable but Temple is better

5-6 Tulane @ SMU SMU has the better offense but Tulane is no slouch on defense. They've
played will lately. Game will be interesting.

5-6 UNLV @ Nevada Nevada has played decent football, as of late. UNLV has a different mood
each week. Interesting game

5-6 Buffalo vs Ohio Ohio is far the superior team, but if Akron beats Kent St on Tuesday night,
Ohio cannot win the Eastern Division of the MAC. Buffalo has been like UMASS and E Mich. (Lose
every close game they play) They are capable of beating Ohio. Especially if Ohio doesn't give its
all. btw...If Akron were to be upset by Kent St. Ohio wins the Buffalo game

5-6 La Tech vs UTSA Toss-up

These next 3 Sun Belt teams all have two games remaining.

5-5 Lafayette vs Ga Southern and then @ Appy St. They'll win one of those

4-6 ULM vs Arky State and @ FSU. They're done

4-6 New Mexico State vs Idaho and vs South Alabama. They've got a good shot at winning both.

We need 78 teams this year. 1 new bowl has been added (Frisco Bowl) and 2 folded. (Miami Beach Bowl
and the Poinsettia Bowl) I think we'll get 80 eligible.

Boy, looks like we got some great matchups coming up. I mean who wouldn't pass up a chance to screw Jennifer Lawrence for a chance to watch Lafayette play New Mexico St?

You're a week late.

Lafayette beat New Mexico State last week.

Bowls need to trimmed down in my opinion. 85% of these bowl games are just participation trophies. "Hey, you won 6 games this year! To celebrate your mediocrity, here is an invite to the Beef O'Brady's Bowl!" Oh blow me, NCAA.

So you are only in favor of 6 Bowl games...huh?

btw...Every frickin' game besides the 2 semis and the NC is just a participation game.

I'm in favor or MAYBE 10 or 12. Shit, cut it in half at least. Or raise the minimum win to 7 so we can at least guarantee that teams with above .500 records compete in a bowl game. Bowl games SHOULD and used to be prestigious but now a 6-6 team that might of gone 2-6 in their conference will be rewarded with a bowl game. It's completely ridiculous.

Why?

You got something against football?
I like good football. A lot of those games aren’t good football. And it screws up the meaning of “making a bowl”, or bowl game streaks, etc.

When 6-6 teams are going to bowls played before half empty stadiums, we’re in participation trophy territory.

I wouldn’t pare it down just to the major bowls, btw, but I’d be OK with getting rid of all of the pre-Christmas bowls.

Can anyone tell me with a straight face that they would miss any of the games below the Heart of Dallas Bowl?

As long as a Bowl can survive financially, it will exist.
If there were a bowl game for every team, I'd be all for that.
A reward for the players on shitty teams is ok with me.

Not sure why anyone wants less football.
Just don't turn it on if you don't want to watch.

It's not that people want less football, people want the actual good teams to be rewarded. What is the NCAA teaching it's student athletes about rewarding mediocrity by putting your 6-6 football team in a, what should be, highly celebrated bowl game just because your team happened to win 6 games? No, people don't want less football, they want more actual good football games.

How can you tell the difference between good football and bad football?

How the game is played makes the difference...not the records of the teams in it.
Christ, I've seen unbeaten teams take a month off from games, go to a bowl, and it
would seem they had never played before.

LY, I watched the Bahamas Bowl between E Mich and Old Dominion. That game is
played on a Cricket Field with extra bleachers brought in. Capacity is only 15K.
It was the first bowl ever played by Old Dominion and only the 2nd bowl ever played
by E Mich, their first since 1987.

That was a good, hard-hitting, exciting football game and both teams were thrilled to
be a part of it.

Now, if y'all want to put a limit on number of teams from individual conferences that can
go...I may not have a problem with that.

I remember when Kentucky went to the Outback Bowl with a 7-5 record, in 1998. It was their
first Bowl game in 15 years. They brought 37K fans down there. You don't think Bama would
bring 37K down there with a 7-5 record, do you? They'd be plotting the execution of the
Coach if they hadn't fired him already.

The year we played No Ill in the Orange Bowl. Those folks sold 17k tickets of their allotment.
They only averaged 14,000 a home game. They got 3K more folks to attend a game 1500
miles away than they did playing in their own stadium, because it was a big deal to them.

I think bowls hurt themselves with all these "name" tie-ins. They may get a few more locals
to buy tickets, but they won't get the travel from the team itself, if that team usually plays
in bigger bowl games.

How competitive is the game is what's important. Toledo and Troy will be a competitive football
game between 2 squads that want to be there. There is nothing wrong with that.

Toledo and Troy aren't teams that were barely able to win 6 games. They were actually good teams this year and they should be rewarded. But the 6-5 Western Kentucky Hilltoppers should NOT be given the same reward as a Toledo team that has only lost 2 games this year and laid 30 points on a possible playoff team in Miami.

I actually think that the reason we have so many Bowl Games is the fact that they can make money, obviously.
And I also think that the NCAA will approve every single new Bowl Game that is brought to them regardless of the arguments for or against.

When FOX and ESPN can bring in another Bowl that can make them money, you'll see it.
It never has bothered me. I just don't watch them if I don't want to, but think "good for the players".

If we get bowl eligible we'll be in Shrevport. Probably vs Missouri, depending on how many SEC
teams make the playoffs/elite bowls. SEC will only have 9 eligible so they may have to give up
that bowl slot. Hopefully maybe New Mexico State would replace them.

They've stopped a couple of games. There was a group in New Zealand that wanted a bowl
and for some reason it wasn't approved. Also, they delayed approval of a bowl in Austin, Texas.
It was supposed to be delayed a year, but they didn't have it last year, either.
