DarrenDreger: Bill Daly remains confident Kovy and KHL will honor deals. "We have no reason to believe the KHL will let them play". More Daly...

DarrenDreger: Continued Daly on Kovy and KHL..."It would be inconsistent with our agreement with them."

TSNBobMcKenzie: So gist of all that is Kovalchuk stuff is just rumors right now. May very well turn up in NJ but many hearing he might not.

what could the KHL and russian players arguments be? lockout violated terms of their agreements? The signed contracts under a previous cba / spc that has now been replaced?

they cant possibly get around this ... if they want the pros in Sochi ??? :noidea:

Interesting 2 hear some players being invited to short'n training camps. Not more interest' than Alex Kovalev to #Panthers. Closing in on 40

@SlavaMalamud Kovalchuk says, 'I will need to read the new agreement' before he decides what to do next.

Sorry Kovy, you can't sign that ridiculously awful deal and then decide "I'm outta here!"

I don't really want to imagine losing Parise and Kovy and then potentially losing Zajac next year. Top lines aren't that important in hockey are they?

Lets pretend Kovy doesnt come back. Does that leave NJ out a draft pick and stuck with a 6.66 mil cap hit for the rest of his deal?

I imagine they'd do the buyout thing. But talk about painful. Not sure there's anything they could really do though. All deals are signed under the assumption that the NHL/KHL agreement will be held up.

Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports that - two days after the NHL and NHLPA reached a tentative deal on a new CBA - Kovalchuk was on the ice Tuesday for St. Petersburg SKA's Kontinental Hockey League game against Ak Bars Kazan.

Questions aplenty regarding Kovalchuk's NHL return

I expect Kovalchuk to honor his contract with the Devils.

Visnovsky's agent said earlier today that if the KHL says he can't play that Vis will report to the Islanders.

I expect the same scenario to happen with Kovy.
