Yes Boutte caught 58 passes for 750+ yards and three TDs. But it was a horrible bunch of WRs and now that the competition has been ratcheted up a notch, he should prove that he wasn't just the best of the rest. The preseason is going to shine a bright light on every player and probably will shine brighter on the skills. There won't be any shadows to hide in. It's going to be step up or step out.

This is a good problem to have. Hope they make the right choices for roster, seems like they need WR by committee. Don’t need any superstars, although I hope Diggs builds good chemistry with Maye.

Edit: also would like Williams to win ROY award. A bit far-fetched, but it would be awesome.

Agree with you Southie it's a good problem to have. The receivers listed are all going to have to ball out. The writer didn't mention Polk and Baker as potential trades. Will one or other actually show their perceived draft expectations?

I don't see much value in any of them at this point. NE will be lucky to get a 6th round pick or a 2nd or 3rd string player not likely to really help the team. Need to hold all these players till other teams start losing WRs to injury. It was a strong WR class so most teams are sitting pretty good. Boutte probably the most valuable followed by Bourne IMO. Both could probably be a good WR3 or WR4 on a decent team. NEs problem last year wasn't just the WRs being bad. Coaching and Oline didn't help their ineffectiveness.

There's a part of me that feels bad for all of them. They'll be walking on egg shells until final cut downs.

I really like Bourne and really want to see him succeed, but I believe Boutte has greater potential and a higher ceiling.
Agreed. I remember him at LSU he was good, he IMO had the same issue as Polk last year. Some WRs come in the NFL and are good from the jump others take a year or two

Honestly I would throw a 7th the Patriots way for Baker. I liked him in the draft process.

Plus he was recovering from an injury as well...as well as pissing off BB.
With his redshirt rookie year and a really decent 2nd year, if he makes the kind of jump again this year he may be a steal, even if his value had a delayed start.

Prior to his injury Boutte was scheduled to be a #1 draft pick

Wide receiver (12):

Stefon Diggs (8) (Keeper)
Mack Hollins (13) (Keeper)
DeMario Douglas (3) (Keeper)
Kyle Williams (18) (Keeper)
How many more get kept??

Ja’Lynn Polk (1)(Keeper?)
Kayshon Boutte (9) (Keeper?)
Kendrick Bourne (84)(Keeper? or Trade?)^
Javon Baker (6) (Keeper?)^
John Jiles (83) (Keeper? or PS?)
Efton Chism III (86) (Keeper?)
Jeremiah Webb (29)(Keeper? or PS?)
Demeer Blankumsee (30)(Keeper? or PS?)

I have a feeling that Polk, Chism, Jiles and Boutte will be on the 53 man roster. All four will be ST starters for both Kick offs and Punts both ways. I also think that Baker and Bourne may be gone.
