I've seen some other sites promote doing what the Giants did in FA.
Spending a ton of money worked out in the regular season, but goodness this amazing defense gave up 38.
Granted, the offense AND special teams did not help in any way.

I feel confident getting solid FA's and re-signing our own is the way to go. As much as i hated seeing us choke against detroit, cincy, and carolina...it could be the best thing that will ever happen to our defense.

The offense completely put the defense in a bad spot. How many dropped passes did Giants receivers have? What about the bone-headed plays? The Packers just played a better game and they are the hottest team in football right now.

With the Giants defense and our offense, we would be in the NFC Championship game. To pin this loss on the defense and claim their 2016 off season philosophy was flawed is just not accurate. Rodgers played an amazing game and Eli did not, that is really the bottom line.

Rodgers playing lights out is def true, but even michael and the other 2 backs made great plays against this tough run defense. I would not say their off season was flawed, but i will say hoping to land poe, berry and perhaps the corner from the rams...no longer seems like the way to go for us. Lesson learned from NYG.
You realize if we win one more game, the Giants would still have the 5th seed and we would have the 6th seed, both in the playoffs. So when the defense needed to show up and help out the offense....they couldn't.

Drafting the right players now seems like the priority. Some guys will be overpaid, but no need to copy what the giants did, when it essentially got them a game further than us.

Agreed, though Snacks Harrison is a heckuva player.

Though I don't think the redskins should trade for any one player, it certainly would be nice to get sheldon richardson from the Jets. That guy's a difference maker.

The run defense wasn't the problem for the giants, it was the fact that their secondary isn't that great to begin with (though Landon Collins looks pretty freakin' good), and once DRC went out, and Janorris Jenkins remembered that he sucks moose dong, Rodgers lit them up.

Plus, the Giants have no running game whatsoever, and Eli has tunnel vision.

maaaaan, so true on Richardson, Chill! he is a beast, i think the only thing that could prevent us from pursuing him is his immaturity off the field. Again, its sad we just didn't show for the Giants game.

LOL. Every freaking QB in the NFL should be playing like Rodgers at this time - ain't that easy. He is playing at one of the highest all time levels in the NFL ever since that Redskins game (22 TDs & 0 INTs including & since that game).

Cousins simply needs to keep improving & the Redskins need to do the same personnel wise. That should be enough to get them going in the right direction. People need to stop asking Cousins to be Rodgers or Brady. Cousins simply needs to be the best Kirk Cousins, and I see no reason why he cannot continue to improve.

We never needed Kirk to be Rogers. Converting 5 FGs into 5 TDs would've made a hellified diference. Norman making one of the pick 6 INTs against Cincy, he dropped 3 that game, two if which that looked to be easy pick 6s. Hopkins making what? A 34 yd FG in London to beat Cincy.

They gave up 38 to possibly the greatest quarterback ever. Denver also built heavily through FA en route to a super bowl and one of the best defenses of all time. We shouldn't spend just to spend but I think the fear of FA has swung too far. We could be a much better team next year if we make some moves in FA.

Yep. A lot of room for improvement on this team which could reap big rewards. A healthy Doctson and/or Gallette could add a lot. Add in some improvement on defense due to develop and better coaching with a good staff. Throw in some draft picks & a decent FA or two & it is pretty exciting.

Keeping Cousins is key. Who knows - if you develop the team further this puts less pressure on him & (along w/ improvement on his part) allows him to thrive instead of wilting in key games. Sure this likely will involve losing a key player or two (e.g. Jackson), but this team should be able to still thrive.
