It wasn't even against the rules then.

And filming the signals still isn't.

If it wasn't against the rules, then why were they hiding it and why did they get busted?

They weren't hiding shit. They got "busted" for one time filming it from an in allowable location. Not only has every coach of substance laughed it off, but Mangini himself who reported it said it was blown out of proportion and he would undo it if he could.

The Rams got beat because they didnt enforce pass interference back then. It would be the equivalent of teams hacking Lebron in the NBA Finals and the refs letting it go because they dont want to interfere with the outcome.

They didn't play any different than Seattle did this year. They let you play in the Super Bowl...

If thats the case then why didnt the Broncos defend the pass better? They call a lot more pass interference these days than they used to and you can see Peyton's record in the playoffs reflect that

Because Denver doesn't have a great defense?

That game was 100% on Peyton choking hardcore. Their defense wasn't even all that terrible. It just never had a shot.

Choking? Seattle had a much better (and much healthier) team

Defensive holding calls shot up after that Super Bowl and then started falling rapidly in the mid 2000s only to spike back up in the past two years. I think there is some truth to Seattle getting away with a few things but defensive holding is being called at a high rate currently.

Regardless, the Pats beat the Rams because they used a high amount of defensive holding and threw off the timing of all of the pass plays and the Rams were caught flat footed

Seattle won the SB because they were a better team that particular day.

The Rams need to draft Watkins because they need to score more points.

Riiiiiiiiight. LOL That's why the NFL fined the patriots $500,000 and they lost a 1st rounder for filming Pittsburgh's walk through before the AFC Championship. Because it was no big deal! ;)

Martz and many players on offense walked off that field and said, "It was like they new all of our plays."

And Peyton didn't choke in the super bowl. Granted that first snap didn't help the Broncos, but they just played a great defense. The entire NFC West owned the league all year. WHY? because of smash mouth defense. Hell we beat the Saints, Indy, and the Bears with Kellen Clemens.

Everybody outside of the Patriots organization acknowledges that the Patriots CHEATED when they played the Rams in the Super Bowl. Rationalize and delude yourself all you want but that is the fact. If they played that game 10 times, the Rams win 9 of them. The best team doesn't always win every time. Even with their cheating, and illegally mugging the Rams receivers all day, and an inept Mike Martz being outcoached as well, as SJ76 said, the Rams still almost won the game! Apparently you only open your mouth to change feet JDM. So don't expect to spew your rhetoric and propaganda here and be well received.

I like how the comiss had all of the tapes destroyed, Arlen Spector at the time was pissed off over this. Probably good that the public never saw these because there was more to it than people realize.

What would it have done to the integrity of the NFL if the public would have found out for certain that there was cheating going on, and even more damning, if the Super Bowl would have been significantly influenced by cheating. It's almost tantamount to fixing games. If something like that ever got out it would destroy a multi-billion dollar business. And you don't think that the owners are ever going to let that happen do you? It would then be known as the WWF-NFL. I'm not so naïve as to not realize that there are many many things going on behind closed doors that that average fan never hears about.

I'll go to my grave believing that the 2001 Rams were one of the greatest to ever play in the NFL, in spite of Martz and his inflexibility. As I said earlier, you Patriots fans can delude yourselves into thinking that they were better than the Rams if you want, but deep down, when you are all alone and having a fleeting moment of honesty, just know that all the Rams fans, and the rest of the world know the truth. And we know you know it too.

I think its funny how the Patriots havent won a superbowl since this was exposed. :laugh3:

Yep, that's an excellent point Zeke. My first choice is to experience a Rams victory. But my close second choices are to see the Patriots and Eagles make asses of themselves. I'd root for the Russians if they were playing these teams.
