Imagine how much excitement this would generate
Ah yes, the excitement of watching players miss the same dunk 10 times in a row....exhilarating!
lol, the all star break is so boring every year, they should just get rid of it
Did you watch Aaron Gordon and Zach Lavine this dunk contest? Or the 3 point contest?
You should retire from watching basketball.
Oh god no... US could have what? 2 guys.. Then we get to watch the Aussies and Germans and Argentinians, and Samoans try? Did you see that dunk contest thingy after some of the NBA playoff games? No... It would be an extremely watered down version of the NBA one which misses more than it hits lately.
This may sound like I am contradicting myself from the other thread, but it could be interesting if they had non-pros competing. Leave the dunks to the YouTube specialists and have the shooters go through qualifying like any other Olympic event. Even then, I think the result would likely be a US team more dominant than the female gymnasts.
I guess, not sure that it's a big draw internationally though. And where do you stop then? Home run derby? Longest golf drive? Best trick shot in soccer (honestly internationally that might be the bigger draw)? To me they are a fun part of a sport, entertaining sure, but not a sport in their own.
I think if you want that, let FIBA put it on in their tourneys. There seems like a much better possible way.
