obviously rodgers, brees and brady are locks for offensive player of the year given their video game numbers, but are they mvp?

if the giants make the playoffs, i'd go with eli. the comebacks, the injuries, the weak offensive line, losing bradshaw... i know it won't happen, but the giants are hardly a groomed offensive team like the big 3 qb's are part of.

Alex smith for MvP....he doesn't have the stats as Rodgers but the way he has turn around this team and this being the first season he has been on a team with a winning record!! :-)

Yes! As some have pointed out Alex is having a better year statistically than Rogers & Brady had this many games into their careers; so obviously Alex > Brady & Rogers. :)

Any answer but Rogers would be silly.

i think mvp is more than just offensive numbers. if brees beats marino's record he most likely would get my vote for offensive player of the year. but i would give eli the nod for mvp over brees or rodgers. the giants have no reason even being in the playoff race.

very serious. rodgers isn't the runaway winner right now.

I don't see how anyone can say that. 39 TDs and 6 pics. That's more TDs and just about half the picks of either Brees or Brady. He's also throwing about a yard more per attempt than either. Oh, and his team is undefeated.

Rogers has had one of the best, if not THE best, seasons in the HISTORY of the NFL (much less this year). The only years anyone can compare to his season is Young in '94, Manning in '04 and Brady in '07. Young's was the best so far because he stomped everyone in the postseason ass well.

undefeated doesn't get him points for offensive player of the year. 5k yards passing is amazing. 3:1 td to ints and 8+ ypa is an amazing year. rodgers is not breaking the td record and he's not breaking marino's passing yards.

there is a possibility for 4 guys to break marino's record.

That's why 5000 yards wouldn't be NEARLY as big a deal as Rodgers' season. Breaking a record does not a better offensive year make; otherwise Drew Bledsoe is a first ballot HOFer.

3:1 TD to INT ratio? Pfff! Rodgers' ratio is 6.5: 1

this isn't about the hall of fame. one season is one season. i don't think rodgers will end up with every 1st place vote given the way things are right now. in either offensive player of the year or mvp.

in my eyes the packers should end up with runner ups even tho they go undefeated. runner up in offensive player of the year, mvp and coach of the year. i know it won't happen because people have a boner for the numbers rodgers is putting up. 120+ passer rating is absolutely amazing tho

getting back to mvp. who the heck had the giants making the playoffs? rodgers is part of a well oiled machine. eli is carrying that team like his brother did the colts, maybe even better

Then those voters need to stop hanging out with Sam Hurd.

Agree 100% on Eli. Here's what I posted about him like 30 minutes ago:

"So if Eli Manning could cut down on the interceptions he would be a friggn' AMAZING QB IMO. He's developed into one of the most accurate QBs in the NFL. I've watched quite a few VaGiants games this season, and he's made some of the closest to perfect passes I've seen all year."

What about Rodgers?

WOOREEEEEAAAAAAARRRRRRRR!!

Dang it! Pulled over by the spelling police again. I can't afford another ticket!

For the record I used both the correct and incorrect way to spell Rahgerz' name in this thread. :)

For the record regarding Rodgers, he's also on pace to break Marino's record. The big difference between Rodgers and Brees here is total attempts. Brees has 543 attempts to Rodgers 438. Rodgers has 105 less attempts. Brees has a very respectable 8.04 ypa. Rodgers has a ridiculous 9.42.

He's on pace to throw 48 TDs, which is 2 of the pace of the record. So it's not unreasonable. Particularly if they get in a shootout with the Lions.

He's also on pace to break the record for passer rating.
