and his ypa to drop considerably, and his total yards to fall off.

He's also run the ball for 207 yards.

Brees on the other hand has run for 68 yards.

green bay's offense is wr based while new orleans isn't. the saints just don't have that kind of talent at wr. of course he's gonna have more ypa and less pass attempts.

i think the best way for me to describe why i take brees over rodgers is looking at brady's best statistical season vs last year. the year he put up those big td numbers it was basically pitch and catch with randy moss. it looked almost too easy. i think he played better last year but didn't have the talent around him. slow start then he turned it on.

with rodgers it looks too easy. everything is just clicking with that offense. with brees, it seems like he has to actually work for his paycheck. graham is on a different planet when it comes to tight ends but overal he doesn't have the wr's to be putting up the season that he is.

It's FEWER pass attempts. Plural... I'll concede Green bay has better receivers than... well just about anyone in the NFL... but it's not like the Saints have a bunch of scrubs. Jimmy Graham, Colston, Meachem & Henderson is a pretty good receiving corps.

I initially thought this was a 49ers team MVP thread. I thought Rodgers 2011 NFL MVP was a no-brainer. Brees can't touch Rodgers, even with his 11 games indoors.

Let me preface this by saying I realize it won't happen so no one get their panties in a wad.....but the soon to be 0-16 Colts might vote for Manning. No way they are worse than 8-10 wins with him in the lineup.

He certainly seems to be the most valuable to his team, so it's a thought I could get behind. Problem is that P stands for Player. If it didn't he'd have my vote. He's got the M and the V part, for sure.

Rodgers by a landslide. Hell... his season is so good, you could probably just tally his stats for the first half of each game and he'd be in contention for MVP discussion. I swear, it seems like he's got 250yds and 2tds by half in every game.

the saints offense and the overal skill set of their wr's should result in less ypa for brees vs rodgers. brees is perfect for that system because it doesn't focus as much on vertical passing.

well for mvp, brees can't touch rodgers. however, eli is my pick for mvp. nobody had the giants making the playoffs if they were healthy.

Rodgers deserves it, and he will get it. I also think Eli is in contention, but it's not gonna happen. If the Giants would have beat the Packers then he would have a shot. Although I do think that the Packers, by no fault of their own, are benefiting from a weak NFL in general. The Packers are the only elite level team. The rest of the teams are all just pretty good. It's a good year to be going for that undefeated record.

ya rodgers is the sexy pick, but eli deserves it given how he's carried that team with his right arm. rodgers is playing at a crazy level, but he's merely executing on a team that came together last year. the giants really had no business even being in that game against the packers

I hate to say it, because I hate the Packers with a fucking passion. But, if Brady gets an MVP for having a year like this back in 2007 with 50-0 votes... I can't see how they don't give it to Rodgers for having a year like this with a defense that sucks so bad... but make up for it with a lot of turnovers. That defense is ranked what? 31st in yards? but 1st in takeaways?

The MVP has long been, the sexy pick. And it doesn't get any sexier than what Brady did in 2007 and what Rodgers is doing this year.

But pretty much any team with a great QB and an unproven or weak backup that leans on offense is in the same boat. How good is New Orleans if Brees doesn't take a snap this year?

How good is New England (especially with that defense) if Hoyer or Mallett is the starting QB all season?

How many wins does GB have if it's Matt Flynn instead of Aaron Rodgers?

If you had a choice between skill position players, would you take

Gregg Jennings, Jordy Nelson, Donald Driver, James Jones, JerMichael Finley, Ryan Grant, John Kuhn and James Starks

or

Marcus Colston, Devery Henderson, Robert Meachem, Lance Moore, Jimmy Graham, Darren Sproles, Pierre Thomas and Mark Ingram?

I'd take the Saints talent without much hesitation. I also think the Saints, with Meachem and Henderson, are built for a more vertical passing game.

Aaron Rodgers is just that good right now.

Brilliant! I think this is spot-on!

I'd take the Packers' offense without hesitating. However, that shouldn't account for 1.38 more YPA like it was earlier stated.
