Windingmywatch will be happy. I will say I like that the move didn't cost us anything. Chicago basically just wanted him off their payroll.

One down. One to go.

Actually I think DFAing him today means TEX gets 10 days to work a trade for him while freeing up a roster spot right away. So YT may still be a part of a future deal even one finalized today.

If TEX hadn't DFA'd YT ... they would have had to make another 40man roster spot available for Soto ... so makes sense to DFA a guy they want to trade anyway.

Not true, Brigham was on the 40 man as well, so DFAing him not necessary to make room for Soto but instead just a likely outcome after the acquisition, maybe to open up a 40 man spot for someone currently down in the minors (Olt?)

Unlikely. They wouldn't leave themselves without two catchers. And no, Snyder is not a backup catcher. He's an emergency catcher.

What's unlikely? They have 2 catchers Soto and Napoli, I'm not sure what point you're trying to make

According to Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports, the Rangers are talking to the Twins about right-handed reliever Jared Burton.
The Rangers are in the market for relief help as they consider moving Alexi Ogando back in the rotation. Burton signed a minor league deal with the Twins over the winter, but he has emerged as a valuable trade chip after posting a 2.40 ERA, three saves and a 36/10 K/BB ratio over 41 1/3 innings this season.

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that the Rangers are still interested in Jonathan Broxton.
Kansas City likely hasn't seen an attractive offer for the resurgent reliever yet, but that could change in the next few hours. If Texas is unable to acquire James Shields or another top-tier starter, they intend to focus on elite relievers. If moved to Texas, Broxton would set up Joe Nathan, which would kill his fantasy value. Broxton has 23 saves and a 2.27 ERA with the Royals this year.

Jon Morosi of Fox Sports writes that the Rays and Rangers have discussed right-hander James Shields.
The Rays have been shopping Shields for the past couple of weeks but haven't been blown away by any particular offer. Texas, meanwhile, grew frustrated by the asking prices tagged to elite starting pitchers and had apparently moved on to focus on relievers. If Tampa Bay has lowered its asking price -- or if Texas is willing to include Mike Olt in a swap -- talks could accelerate quickly. Shields carries an affordable $9 million club option for 2013 and a $12 million club option for 2014.

Straight from the horse's mouth: Dempster told Bruce Levine of ESPNChicago.com he has expanded his list to include the Yankees and Rangers, in addition to the Dodgers.

Who are they moving on the 40 man to make room for Olt? Soto takes Torrealba's spot.

Brigham & Torre were both on 40 man.... brigham for soto was even swap.

DFA'ing Torrealba leaves 1 spot open.

The Rangers acquired Ryan Dempster from the Cubs, tweets ESPN's Buster Olney. MLB.com's Ken Gurnick and Scott Miller of CBS Sports had early word of the deal, which made it in just under the trade deadline buzzer.
