Minnesota vs. Alabama - Game Summary - November 25, 2017 - ESPN

The fact that Alabama almost won that game with only 3 players is impressive. The fact that Alabama ended up with ONLY 3 players on the court is even more impressive.
Oh, and other stuff happened outside of this little oddity.

Great Alaska Shootout:
3rd Place game:
Idaho over Cal Poly 75-66
Championship: Central Michigan over CSU-Bakersfield 75-72

Other big games:
Albany over Holy Cross 78-62 (Albany is now 6-0)
Bradley over Georgia Southern 62-57
Memphis over Northern Kentucky 76-74
Penn over Monmouth 101-96 in 4-OT's
Providence over Boston College 86-66
Emerald Coast Classic Final: TCU over St. Bonaventure 89-79

And sorry if I sound a little boring; 11 hours of watching college football rivalries can really take it out of you.

Sunday, November 26th

So ESPN's little "Feast Week" is ending today. And now they're pulling out their trump card: The finals of the "PK80" tourney. I mean, today we have Texas vs. Gonzaga, Ohio State vs. Butler, Oklahoma vs. Oregon, and UConn vs. Arkansas... and that's just the consolation games!

But with all that madness in Portland, I'll bet the other holiday tournaments are feeling negliected. Don't worry. I got them covered: (All times are Eastern)

Advocare Invitational [From Orlando, FL]:
3rd Place game:
St. John's vs. UCF (12:00)
Championship: Missouri vs. West Virginia (9:30)

Wooden Legacy [From Fullerton, CA]:
3rd Place game: Georgia vs. Saint Mary's (5:00)
Consolation:
Harvard vs. CS-Fullerton (9:30)
Championship: Washington State vs. San Diego State (30 minutes after above game)

Other big games:
Tulane @ Georgia State (12:00)
Jacksonville State @ Mississippi State (3:00)
Air Force @ Colorado (4:00)
BIG game: Texas A&M @ USC (10:00)

And it ended up a mixed bag for @SkinsDevil yesterday. Duke made a stirring comeback against Florida, but USC would get skunked by Texas A&M. Can you imagine what would happen if Duke and USC fought each other in the upcoming NCAA tourney?

...Yeah, it's too early to think about that. Let's just finish up looking at Sunday's action:

Wooden Legacy:
3rd Place game:
Georgia over Saint Mary's 83-81 in OT
Championship: Washington State over San Diego State 93-86

Advocare Invitational:
3rd Place game:
St. John's over UCF 46-43
Championship: West Virginia over Missouri 83-79
Other big games:
Georgia State over Tulane 70-59
(Tulane's first loss of the season)
Jacksonville over Gardner-Webb 106-99 in 3-OT's
Mississippi State over Jacksonville State 59-56
La Salle over Temple 87-83

Now that "Feast Week" and almost all of the early-season tournaments are over, it's time to relax a little bit. Which means I can cruise along by fitting 2 days of action into 1 post... for the first time in weeks. So on that note, I'm gonna check if Syracuse (or anybody else) has something major going on right now: (All times are Eastern)

Today:
ACC/Big 10 Challenge:
Game of the Day: Maryland @ Syracuse (7:00)
:heh: (Ooooo... Right away, we get something. I guess we'll see how good Tyus Battle and the Orange are soon enough.)
Wisconsin @ Virginia (9:00)

Other big games:
South Carolina @ Florida International (7:00)
Albany @ Monmouth (7:00)

Tomorrow:
ACC/Big 10 Challenge:
Florida State @ Rutgers (7:00)
(Rutgers is a big, fat 6-0 after feasting on cupcakes. But it's time to see if they can hang with someone that can FIGHT BACK.)
Northwestern @ Georgia Tech (7:00)
Louisville @ Purdue (8:00)
Illinois @ Wake Forest (9:00)
Iowa @ Virginia Tech (9:00)

Other big games:
Game of the Day: Baylor @ Xavier (6:30)

South Dakota State @ Ole Miss (8:00)
Utah State @ Valparaiso (8:00)
Loyola-Chicago @ Boise State (9:00)

It's happened before. 2001 Elite Eight game in Philadelphia. USC was a 6 seed, coming in off upsets of Boston College and Kentucky. Duke was the #1 overall seed and destined to win the tourney.

I rooted for USC that game, as undergrad school takes precedence over grad school, and probably would again. Would not be easy to root against this duke team though.

San Diego State over Bradley 75-52
Mississippi State over Dayton 61-59
Maryland over Illinois 92-91 in OT

12/5 recap

Hey! Nearly EVERY game in the Top 25 was good yesterday. Last night we had *Gasp*...
TCU holding off SMU, Nevada suffering it's first loss at Texas Tech (nothing wrong with that), Villanova beating 'Zaga at MSG, West Virginia beating Virginia, Michigan State surviving on the road, and Minnesota... well, not doing that.

*Whew* So I guess I should look closer at the games outside the rankings:

Valley of the Sun Showcase:
Arizona over Texas A&M 67-64

St. John's over Grand Canyon 68-60
Other big games:
Butler over Utah 81-69
Syracuse over UConn 72-63 (I don't care if this rivalry isn't what it once was; we call that one a "big win" for the Orange.)
Memphis over Samford 65-64
Texas over VCU 71-67
