Russell Wilson (Seahawks) - 18/23 for 254 passing yards, 11 yards per attempt, 4 TD passes to 0 INTS, 152.3 passer rating. The Seahawks beat the Colts.
Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs) - 27/36 for 337 passing yards, 9.4 yards per attempt, 4 TDs to 0 INTS, 131.4 passer rating. The Chiefs beat the Browns.
Jameis Winston (Saints) - 14/20 for 148 passing yards, 7.4 yards per attempt, 5 TD passes to 0 INTS, 130.8 passer rating. The Saints rout the Packers.
Kyler Murray (Cardinals) - 21/32 for 289 passing yards, 9 yards per attempt, 5 TDs to 1 INT, 121 passer rating. The Cardinals destroyed the Titans.
Derek Carr (Raiders) - 34/56 for 435 passing yards, 7.8 yards per attempt, 2 TD passes to 1 INT, 89.5 passer rating. The Raiders beat the Ravens.
Tyreek Hill (Chiefs) - 197 receiving yards, 1 TD catch, 4 catches for over 20 yards. The Chiefs beat the Browns.
Daniel Carlson (Raiders) - Went 2/2 for field goals, including a big 55 yard kick to bring the Raiders to OT.
Chandler Jones (Cards) - Had two big forced fumbles and 5 sacks. The Cardinals ripped the Titans.

If you pick other, you need to identify the player.

I plan on doing this every week. Each week's winner gets 3 points. The runner-up gets 1 point.

Going with Murry or Jones... Nothing specific other than the quality of opponent he faced... Jones had a Derrick Thomas type of game...

I think looking back by week 18 Mahomes will have the most impressive performance. Strong arguments for Murray or Chandler Jones, however.

Offensive - Kyler Murray
Defensive - Chandler Jones

If I could cast 2 votes, I would. I chose Murray as I didn't see Jones until I voted. I'll stick with my Murray pick.

I took Jones.
but if I were to take a QB it would have been Stafford. Yep not as big of a name as some of the others but he was surgical against a high end defense.

I went with Derek Carr. Chandler Jones had a career day and it was a fantastic performance on defense. There is no denying that. But if Chandler Jones didn't have that game, arguably, it wouldn't of mattered because that Tennessee defense just couldn't stop Murray and the offense. If Carr doesn't play the way he played, the Raiders offense is anorexic to the endzone. Couldn't get the running game going and the defense couldn't stop the Ravens running game. Before anyone says it, yes, 2 rushing TDs on the ground by Vegas. But in those 2 rushing TD drives, Carr went 9-10 for 98 yards. Those rushing TDs don't happen if Carr doesn't play like that, which means, arguably, the Raiders don't win this game without Derek Carr's play. In my opinion, the same can't be said about the Cardinals and Chandler Jones' performance. Hard to say Murray doesn't deserve it either, but the same can be said for Murray. Even if Murray doesn't play as good as he did, Arizona still wins that game because of the defensive performance from Chandler Jones and Crew.

Tl;dr version:

I believe the Cardinals still beat Tennessee even if Jones/Murray don't play the way they do.
I believe the Ravens end up beating the Raiders if Carr doesn't have his 400+ yard game.

All Jones need is 18 more sacks in the next 16 games to get the single season sack record, looks very doable. Disappointing if he doesn't get it by week 5

on the flip side.
if Jones has this game for the raiders. Carr doesnt have to throw 50+ times.
you are gonna have a ton of passing stats when you are behind almost the whole game.
Still think Carr wasnt even the top QB this week.

Jones helped the Cards stuff the Titans, but I'll go with Stafford, simply because the Rams bet so heavily on him. A bad game by Stafford would have hurt worse than a bad game by anybody else - it wasn't about one game with Stafford's debut, it was about the whole tenor of the organization.

I'll go with Stafford. I knew he would do well with the Rams but he was great in primetime. I do think the Rams dismantle the Bears anyway but Staffords performance was impressive.
Chandler Jones had an epic day too. Also had 4 tfl to go with the sacks and ff. Pretty much could coast for a couple games and still win DPOM for Sept.

Not that it really matters, but 6 QBs (Carr, Prescott, Allen, Goff and Lawrence) threw the ball 50+ times during Week 1 and only 1 won their game (Carr). It's not the passing stats that I'm really concerned about, it's the fact that the Raiders got the W and not the L. Stafford and Murray played amazingly. But I think even if they didn't, their respective teams win their games because of the defensive play. I don't think the same can be said about the Raiders.
