Would've been a great game but the Coaches Poll is, and was, a joke. 97 was a nice retirement gift for Osborne though.

Without question Nebraska. Michigan gets rolled in the Rose Bowl had it not been for a cheap shot on Michael Black.

The polls were a joke I'm much happier with the playoff format. BTW you made it very difficult to dislike you for being a rangers fan. Looking forward to puck drop?

Yea, but I just moved and dropped cable so we'll see how that goes in terms of trying to catch the games.

I actually quite enjoyed the first game Nebraska played against us in the B10 -- their fans were quite pleasant. Despite what people think, we don't sit around and perseverate about sharing the 1997 title. Nebraska won the full coaches NC and Michigan won the full AP NC. That's just the way the system worked back then.

Uhhhhhh. Mgoblog......

Michigan should've been #1 but Nebraska was the better team and I'd imagine they would win the head to head.

The Mizzou team that should've beaten Nebraska was really good at a couple of things and mediocre/subpar at pretty much everything else. Mizzou was basically like an NCAA tourney team trying to kill clock against a #1 seed. Eventually time would run out on them. The play that Nebraska made was total BS, illegal, and a 1 in 1,000 play but I don't think that changes the dynamics of that matchup and that season in the context of what would happen if Michigan and Nebraska actually played.

Refs weren't going to throw a flag on any team in that situation. And according to the rules of would have been a judgement call on whether that was intentional.

It's still just Michigan fans saying Michigan.
Everybody else is Nebraska.

No idea. The game is played on the field, not in the stat book. I would pick braska, but never know unless its played on the field.

True, coaches poll needs to be eliminated, always has.

But it's not anymore of a joke than the #1 team being tied into a bowl that wouldn't allow them to play #2 because of their conference.

It almost sounds like: "we can't play you for the title and you don't deserve the title anyways"

Nebraska was just as deserving as Michigan was. I don't like getting it via the coaches but we were both undefeated and never played so why does it keep getting labeled as a parting gift? If you guys would've just played us and "beat us" that never would've happened right?

But we'll never know. Glad we have the playoffs now!

Just for fun. Bradley Cooper is Grant Wistrom and Vince Vaughn is Brian Griese! ;)

Tldr again.
Suffice to say....
The champs got the crystal football
Michigan got a chunk of wood.

I was too young in 1997.

But I'm old enough to know that Michigan is better in 2016 so that's cool at least.
