broncosmitty did earlier.

RW has only maintained a RAT avg of 100 and 26 TDs per season since entering the NFL and now has a SB ring.

Totally average. Let that guy walk...

Except with the defense you have that is why you are winning. You could have any fairly capable QB in there and won the Super Bowl. Players like to one up each other so it wouldn't be surprising for Wilson to try and beat Kaps contract numbers, or to try and become the highest paid QB.

Most QBs would have made a costly mistake or two along the way. But I know...... he's short.

Wilson's way better than Kap.

Kap gets my nod.

Yea it has nothing to do with that I dont care about his height. You are correct RW is very safe and consistent that is the problem that shouldn't get you 20+ mil. Im not picking on Wilson I pointed him out cause I think because of the SB win he will end up being the highest paid. I think the Kap and Flacco deals are bad deals too.

Kap haters. 80% of the experts have been saying its one of the best contracts out there for a QB. How can he be over paid. He is getting paid 3.8 million this year. Doesn't look like he is getting over paid.

Haters going to hate.

RW has only maintained a RAT avg of 100 and 26 TDs per season since entering the NFL and now has a SB ring. Craperdick has a RAT avg of 75 since playing in the NFL. How is that setup to being most overpaid in the NFL if he gets a similar contract to Craperdick?

I did whaaa? Comment on the guy in the picture with Lombardi? Which you posted long before I got to this thread....

What players should or shouldn't make is relative to the market. Wilson's responsibilities will grow as he continues to develop. But to this point, there is nothing wrong with taking weight off a young QB's shoulders and easing him in. In fact, that's a very smart thing to do.

2014 Cap Number for highest paid QBs:

1. Eli Manning - $20,400,000
2. Ben Roethlisberger - $18,895,000
3. Jay Cutler - $18,500,000
4. Drew Brees - $18,400,000
5. Sam Bradford - $17,610,000
6. Aaron Rodgers - $17,550,000
7. Peyton Manning - $17,500,000
7. Matt Ryan - $17,500,000
9. Phil Rivers - $16,666,666
10. Matthew Stafford - $15,820,000
11. Joe Flacco - $14,800,000
11. Tom Brady - $14,800,000
13. Carson Palmer - $12,000,000
14. Tony Romo - $11,773,000
15. Alex Smith - $8,000,000
15. Matt Schaub - $8,000,000
17. Cam Newton - $7,008,113
18. Andrew Luck - $6,029,454
19. Robert Griffin III - $5,759,754
20. Matt Cassel - $5,750,000
20. Chad Henne - $5,750,000

Since these contracts rarely last long enough to see the HUGE pay out (if Kaep really screws up this year, the 9ers can cut bate with him and get $7.5 million back for next years cap and pay him nothing for the rest of the contract and Flacco most likely restructures before his cap number hits $28.5 million in 2016).

So, I went with Eli. There is no way he should be the highest paid QB in the NFL (at least cap number wise, and he was also the highest paid in 2013).

The first post I wasn't the first. And if I was an NFL GM I would not pay RW the type of money he will get. If Kap is getting about 22 mil a year and over 60 mil guarenteed what do you think RW will end up getting about 25 a year maybe 70-80 mil guarenteed. That is way to much for someone not named Brady or Rodgers or Joe Montana.

Wilson earned a shit ton of guarenteed money this past year. When he signs, it will be like getting a back check well deserved.

In reality, Flacco should win this going away. Kaep just signed his extension so we won't know if he's overpaid until they upcoming season. Flacco has already proven that he isn't worth the money he's being paid.

To me its Jay Cutler that man is so overrated kaep took the 49ers to a superbowl and was 1 bad play away from taking them back to the superbowl last season. He had a solid season in 2008-2009 but every other season has been very average and who knows how good he is without brandon marshall because he seems to be the only guy he throws too prior to this season with alshon jeffery

Here are my sources:

On Colin Kaepernick:
Colin Kaepernick, San Francisco 49ers reach record contract extension | Audibles - SI.com

The full Kaepernick contract details | ProFootballTalk

On everyone else:
» Over the Cap- Top NFL Contracts: Quarterback

If you're going to say there is something wrong with the contract information I posted, at least point out what you believe is wrong.

Kap's is spread out over 7 years. So 6 years 126 extension. I guess my problem with it, is that Kap's contract is way better than any of the others, it only has a little over 13 mil fully guaranteed. And is basically a year by year deal with de-escalators in it as well. And the first 5 year average is only $16.4 mill which is the franchise tag for QBs for 2014. I know you can't add all that in and I don't believe all the info was out yet on the contract. But that was my issue with it. The devil is in the details. This was a win for the niners, and Kap wanted it that way.
