Montee Ball and James White on this list?

Do Nebraska fans know how lame the Rex song is?

Montee Ball would be 22nd on the list (he picked the top 9 running backs based on yardage alone). White is much further down, and does not merit best RB in any way shape or form this year, because he's not getting enough touches.

You could make a case for Ball for best RB based on his TD/carry ratio (about 1 touch in 6-7 is a score for him), but I think it'd be a weak one. He certainly has the potential to be it, but Wilson is taking so many opportunities away from him that he hasn't had enough opportunity to show his talent (no, a TD pass doesn't bump him up the list).

If Ball had another 40 carries and had proportional stats like 140 carries for 850 yards and 23 TDs, or if he had the stats he does playing a ton of really good defensive teams, then yes, he'd be leading the discussion. As is, while he has the talent, Wisconsin isn't well... Wisconsiny enough to get him that consideration for me at this point.

That said, he should be on the list over guys like Robbie Rouse and now that I look at him, Lattimore's stats aren't jumping out at me either. Georgia and Navy he went on a hell of a tear though.

Lattimore would be an easy decision if he wasn't injured

Yes, because 3.7 YPC over the last four games is something the best running back in America does all the time.

Seriously, what is up with the Lattimore love? He's proven nothing outside of the fact that he's extremely durable. I honestly think he is one of the worst listed, and I think Montee and Burkhead are both better.

I forgot that he went strictly off of yardage by the time I posted. Durr.

Ball is a more complete back right now than last year. He was a bit hulked up for 2010. He's quicker and looser right now I think.

White has moves.

But ya, Wilson has really changed the offense quite a bit. Ball and White will still get a lot of touches but not like last year.
