That would be tough to do. We have D linemen not LB's

I think Quinn could be an edge rusher option. Does Brockers fit as an NT though? Would definitely need to add another LB (or two) in the draft; don't really have any 3-4 ILB run-stopper types.

The offense is in such disarray though. He would need to bring along a very good OC candidate. He does have some background on the offensive side of the ball, but not at a coordinator level.

Rams seem to be leaning towards McVay.

I agree,l but I think we need someone who can establish a culture of no bullshit and get these guys to start playing disciplined football. I'm sure Patricia could get a good OC to join him.

Regardless, just get someone who is a good head coach.

Not only that but its a little dangerous hiring a HC just to help a QB. Seems like a good idea but what if Goff just doesn't have it and you passed on a better Defensive minded HC.

Nothing confirmed yet, they were interviewing McCoy and Musgrave yesterday. Regardless, McCoy is getting an awful lot of mileage for one good year with Peyton after 3 bad years with Orton/Sims/Tebow (and mediocrity with the Chargers as head coach thereafter).

What do you all think about McVey coming in and becoming the next coach? He'd be the youngest coach in NFL history. He might have a gifted offensive mind, but really young head coaches don't have a great track record of success (Kiffin and McDaniels).

At least we know they won't hire McVeigh.

The other option is to wait for Shanahan, but they could be waiting a while depending on the Falcons' success in the playoffs. It would be tough to wait for him and lose out on any other preferred options.

He's allegedly getting a second interview. What makes you say we won't hire him?

You can bet your sweet ass that all these coaches that we've brought in so far are just here for the free lunch! That's right, the RAMs organization is probably the last place that they really want to coach. But if the money is good, well then maybe?

With a terrible offense and no help in the draft and a shitty owner, you can rest assure that they know that they wont be given much of a chance to succeed here! My prediction is, all of the other teams will sign their HC and we will end up with a bottom of the barrel coaching staff that will basically do what ever the owner tells him to.

Second interview AND stayed overnight... I'd say odds are high for McVay. Btw, he's a great guy and well liked by players. How much his OC skills translate to HC who knows but having a McVay/Wade ticket is attractive.

Well y'all are going to give Lyn a second interview as well...

Here's some good info on McVay from John Keim, one of the best Skins writers/reporters...

Here’s what you need to know about having him as the coordinator the past two years:

He called every play: Though Gruden and others had input on the game plan, it was McVay who called the plays. Gruden would be on the headset and make suggestions, but it was McVay making the decision on the plays. The Redskins' offense might have frustrated fans at times, but the play-design impressed coaches and others outside of Washington. If McVay leaves, the Redskins do have experienced play-callers on staff.

He's considered quarterback-friendly: Even the quarterbacks will say that they can’t excel without talent at the receiver position and the Redskins had plenty of it, with Pierre Garcon, DeSean Jackson and Jamison Crowder along with tight end Jordan Reed. Their impact can’t be dismissed. But in numerous conversations over the course of the season and in the offseason, the quarterbacks felt comfortable entering games because they were well-prepared and coached. It allowed them to make decisions pre-snap that eased their burden in a game. Every look they would get in a game, they would have seen during the week. The quarterbacks considered it "friendly and understandable." Cavanaugh also played a big role, though, in developing this offense. Cousins routinely credited Cavanaugh with simplifying reads, making it easier to know when to move on from a target.

He liked talking to the quarterbacks: During the game, that is, over the headset. After calling the play, he’d tell the quarterbacks where they should go with the ball based on the look they would receive. There were times this was viewed as a negative, but it also was seen the other way at times. Some players felt it hurt Kirk Cousins; others did not. But the bottom line is, sitting in the booth, McVay had a clear view of the look they might receive based on how the defense aligned against a similar formation earlier in the game. It helped. For someone who did not play the position, the quarterbacks liked his thought process.

He’s smart: McVay has been around the game his whole life, thanks to his grandfather who was a longtime San Francisco executive. McVay has devoured books on leadership styles, and one player described him as "charismatic." But being around the game helped him develop a strong sense of the big picture and a clear understanding of how he wants things done -- important traits for a head coach or a coordinator. But as a coordinator it enabled him to get a feel for how defenses were trying to stop them. He wasn’t always right and there were times he admitted needing to stick with the run more or improve in certain areas. He’s only been the full-time coordinator for two seasons. But players liked that "he studies his ass off."

These aren’t traits that others lack or that makes it impossible to replace him. But it is what you’d hear from those who worked closely with McVay and why they were impressed with someone who is only 30.

Only negative I can think of is failed RZ efficiency and the historically awful inability to score points, given the rest of the O stats. How much of this was based on talent/execution vs the awful run/pass and/or play calling in the RZ is the subject of many a skins board debate.

Classic example of a Skins fan on this...

Sounds like a well qualified good hire to me, but we are the RAMs and we will end up with a complete opposite of McVay! Thanks for posting this information!

According to ESPN's Alden Gonzalez, Redskins OC Sean McVay is still viewed as the favorite to fill the Rams' head-coaching vacancy.

McVay was brought in for a second interview on Wednesday, which must have gone well. The Rams seem to have narrowed their search down to McVay and Anthony Lynn, who will meet with Rams officials for the second time on Thursday. Kyle Shanahan, who had his interview pushed back because of inclement weather, may not meet with the Rams at all. If McVay gets the job, he's expected to bring on Wade Phillips as his defensive coordinator. McVay would be the youngest head coach in NFL history at age 30.
