Agreed. Doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.I thought this free agency would be fast and furious
This been rather slow
Twins acquired RHP Sonny Gray and RHP Francis Peguero from the Reds in exchange for RHP Chase Petty.
The veteran right-hander gives the Twins a much-needed arm in their rotation while the Reds continue to make confusing and embarrassing decisions. Gray posted a 4.19 ERA over 135 1/3 innings last season with 155 strikeouts and a 47.2 percent ground ball rate. The 32-year-old is due $10 million in 2022 with a $12 million club option for 2023.
Reds are a joke.
It is a little puzzling that they would do that trade despite having been in contention last year. But maybe they thought that it was fools gold.
That’s about the going rate on a flyer on a potential #4 SP.Gray's provided them with 136 ERA+ ball since getting traded to Cinci. A lower level pitching prospect that projects as a reliever is a pretty underwhelming return if you ask me. It's not like Gray's making a ton of money either, $10-12M isn't that much nowadays.
The Reds also lost Miley (who had a 141 ERA+ in 2021) to the Cubs on waivers.
Cheapskates.

I hope for the Twins sake that he is better than a #4. We're counting on him to be a top of the rotation guy.
Petty has an incredibly high ceiling. He looks like he could be a #1, but he is a couple of years away. The other kid the Twins got in the deal has a limited ceiling, but he could pitch in the bigs in the next couple of years.I don't like giving up a top pitching prospect, but this was a necessary move if we wanted any chance of competing this year, even in a poor division.
Got a feeling with new CBA the lower teams are all going to get rid of the big money guysGray's provided them with 136 ERA+ ball since getting traded to Cinci.
