It was Tukuafu. Seattle probably grabs him.

Will Tukuafu - DL - Free Agent

49ers waived DE Will Tukuafu.

It's a bit of a surprise, as Tukuafu has been with the 49ers since 2010, but he's also notched zero career tackles. He played limited snaps on special teams.

Hard to argue, cutting a guy with zero career tackles...

Keep in mind he only played 44 snaps on defense last year (25 vs. the run) and 14 snaps on defense in 2011 (6 vs. the run).

So in 3 + seasons he must have made, with the rookie minimum, about a million 5 or so. And he didn't have to make a single tackle to get that? Where do I sign up? I'll tackle nobody for only a million and they can save 500 Gs.

Matt Barrows:

Will Tukuafu wasn't on #49ers' injury report last week. But he's apparently been dealing w/ a knee issue, hence waived/injured designation.

hmmmm... I guess everybody forgot that he played fullback as well. Especially on goal line and short yardage situations...

I didn't forget. If anybody wants his offensive snap counts like I listed earlier with the defensive snaps, here are his offensive snaps (including playoffs):

2012 - 94 total (15 pass, 75 run block, 4 pass block)
2011 - None

In 2012, only played double digit offensive snaps in week 4 @ NYJ (13), week 5 vs. BUF (17), week 13 @ STL (10), and week 14 vs. MIA (10). 50 of his 94 (53%) offensive snaps came in those 4 games.

Many years ago my dad knew a guy who was like a backup LB in the NFL, I'm not even sure who it was. Guy loved his job. My dad was like, "Don't you want to start?" And he was like, "Heck no. I don't have to worry about getting injured, just go in, stay in shape, and collect a hefty paycheck." Obviously that's not the sort of guy you're dying to have on your team, but hey, it's not a bad life. One of my good friends was college roommates with USC's long-snapper, the guy who came out in 2003. Giants invited him in as a UDFA following the Niners playoff game debacle. He turned them down. I was like, "Are you crazy? They would've handed you the job!!!" My kids are gonna be long-snappers....

Thanks, Pozz... Didn't he get injured after game 1 of the 2011 season?

No, not a bad gig at all! Reminds me of Cliff Stoudt, the backup QB for Pittsburgh when Terry Bradshaw was there. He qualified for his pension before ever taking a single snap. Now that's a good gig

Doesn't look like Colt will get the same luxury on the 49ers at least.

Will Tukuafu - DL - Free Agent

49ers released DE Will Tukuafu with an injury settlement.

Tukuafu was waived/injured with an undisclosed injury last week. Tukuafu appeared in 14 games last season, but was held off the stat-sheet. It's possible he'll be re-signed later this year.
