I don't think there is anyway in hell an average guy would be able to take his kids to witness the SB. Prices for these events get more crazy every year.

This year (a quick search on Stubhub) shows the cheapest ticket you can get is for $3034 per seat. If you really want to splurge you can dish out $866000 and get yourself a nice comfy suite. Seriously? Who's dishing out nearly a million bucks for one game? I hope that comes with some complimentary nachos and a parking pass.

Oh ya, good luck finding a Hotel while you are in New York that week too. There are less than 30 hotels with rooms available when I did a search on Expedia for hotels near Metlife stadium. Prices from $400 to $800 per night (roughly).

Looks like it will me and a few friends watching on the big screen in my basement again.

No, it is not intended as a family outing like the rest of sports are(even though the average game is very expensive for a family)... As shawn Hunter has proven, if you want to go to the game strongly enough you can find a way to go-even without much money...

I too am amazed that there are that many people -- +80,000 -- who are both willing and able to spend that much to attend the SB. You are right; they certainly aren't the "average Joe's" and their kids who are filling the stands.

Metlife Stadium holds 82566 (according to Wikipedia). Do the math on that (per seat $$) and that is some crazy cheddar. Who gets all that money? The league? Metlife stadium owners? Jets and Giants must get a slice?

Even using the $3000 per seat (lowest price) that is nearly a quarter billion $$$ just in attendance money.

You don't think there are people in this country that would shell out 800K for a super bowl suite?

You do realize that 87 percent of the countries wealth belongs to 1.2 percent of the population right? There are quite a few folks who for whom 800k is like 80 bucks to you.

Clearly you are right because the Superbowl sells out every time. It is still baffling, to me at least, that anyone would pay thousands (or hundreds of thousands) to watch something that anyone can watch for free on TV.

So they make 10,000 times more money than me? I make about 80,000 so you are telling me there are people that make 800,000,000 a year? Not even Bill Gates makes that much.

How much of your income is spoken for, though? Percentage wise their disposable income is still much higher.

LOL, might want to reread the post....

Its not about how much money they make a year, its about how much money they have. And what a certain dollar amount is to them as compared to you. It was vague generalization anyway. Do you have a problem with the point I made, or just flapping the gums for the fuck of it?

So aren't they going to start requiring people with tickets to show photo i.d. to get in so people don't scalp the tickets. Thought I read that somewhere at the beginning of the season?

That soon, each ticket will be connected to a person and if that person doesn't show the ticket can not be used.

Not sure how viable that would be. People give away tickets all the time. Either as gifts or prizes or whatever. Plus the act of selling your tickets isn't illegal I think. I went to the hawks - niners game this year with tickets that had someone else's name on them.

the cost of sporting events has gone through the effin roof

you'd be better off buying your kid a flat screen with surround sound to watch the games than taking them in person - in the short run, you'll save money

It is totally legal to sell your tickets on sites like Stubhub, Ebay, Craigslist, etc. The NFL will never take that away since it would be a conflict of interest since they get a cut of money from some of those sites that buy tickets in advance and sell them inflated.

I don`t care whether its the SB or not......3k+ is way too much for a damn football game.
Its a terrible shame/sham that the NFL does this.
And as for the suites, big businesses are the ones that probably put out for that kind of cash.It could be a tax write of I suppose......
I could see these SB tix going for 300 upper and 500 lower, and to me thats a lot for a damn game.
But it also could be me getting older and tighter with my money too.:noidea:

Season ticket holders go if they win their team's lottery. This year I would expect a lot of fans that normally wouldn't go to go if they get the opportunity. Usually it's held in some place that monopolizes hotels and airports. You'll see some of that in the NY area but the volume is so big that you wont see flights and and hotels going up 5x like it does in New Orleans and Miami.

On the list of awful purchases, spending $3,000 to watch something you will remember for the rest of your life and may have waited years (if not decades) for isn't a bad deal at all.
