It's obviously coming soon. Does Dallas wise up? Is it Buffalo now? Here are my guarantees:

1. It will absolutely be before preseason is over.

2. There will be more positive viewpoints on the signing than negative viewpoints meaning the PR hit will be minimal.

3. Ray Rice will help whatever team it is that signs him. The magnitude of help will depend on the situation he goes into (i.e. he makes Dallas a huge threat in the NFC).

Most people have a short enough memory to where it won't be a PR nightmare if a team signs him. The question is whether or not he is still good enough to make a NFL roster.

I don't agree...but you know that. I would take him over Darren McFadden as my starter right now. I guarantee Rice would be a top 10 back in ypc on Dallas.

Ray Rice was injured in 2013 by played through it.

Additionally, the Baltimore OL was ranked 32nd in rushing and it wasn't just Ray Rices numbers;BP's numbers fell off huge as well in fact BPs numbers fell further then rides in a % basis.

I guess 4 OLineman injured including Pro bowler Yanda might have a little something to do with a huge drop off in production.

RR would have already been back on a roster if this was RR of '09.

Yes, he can help a team, as a depth guy...I've just seen too many RBs go over the cliff to think he can be a 1000-1200 yd RB again....600-700 on a good team would be valuable imo.

He needs to sign somewhere soon. He needs reps and he needs to take some hits. I don't put as much stock into 2013 that many do. I understand too well what the factors were. He certainly isn't the RR of '09 - '11, but I do think he could be the RR of '12.

1 year of data obtained in a year he experienced his only injury isn't fair.

How do u explain the other backs for Baltimore falling off at the same time and by more %YPC?

Tough to show it outwardly for obvious reasons, but I'm a fan of RR and always felt he was the catalyst of that Raven OFC.

To your point...no, it's not fair, but you have these factors to weigh...age, and he's missed a full yr of football...to make him a feature RB in '15 and 200+ touches is a mistake imo...ADDING him to Shady in BUF (example) makes more sense than replacing him.

Spot on!!!

I'm sending this post to my wife...and my boss...and my GF...err...not her...lol
i cant understand how people dont see this. a year off, coming off a bad year (really bad).

"oh his line was hurt"

so were a lot of teams.

the nfl may be the hardest sport to take a year off from and try to come back.

You do understand that he's saying something much different than you are...right???
no, he isnt.

we both say he shouldnt be a feature back because hes football dead.

he missed a year coming off a really, really bad year.

not a good recipe.

Someone who is "football dead" or "toast" shouldn't be on an NFL roster period. I think everyone would agree he shouldn't be a "feature" back anymore. This doesn't mean he couldn't substantially help some team.
