I was thinking about Warren Moon and him being able to start right out of college instead of having to go north until he was 30 or whatever. I think he would be great with today's rules.
It's interesting thinking of the oldtimers like Graham and Baugh and others. Really hard to picture what they would do because we didn't get to watch them play. I would love to see it though. Somebody invent a time machine already, lol.

Nobody wants to see a guy that can't complete passes. I would much rather have Young, Marino, Montana as well as many others than horse mouth.

You and Myles are full of frozen road apples!!

Sammy Baugh.. because he was even before my time and I'd like to see him play. He was 6'2" and played pro baseball in the minors for awhile. So he had the physical attributes required for sure.

But probably Marino or Young.

A few obvious ones have been said.

I'll go with Fran Tarkenton

Mirrors a lot of today's QB's. Great feel in the pocket, great scrambler, great runner and an extremely accurate/efficient passer. His TD/INT ratio doesn't look impressive now, but for a playing that spanned the early 60's to late 70's? It's phenomenal.

Imagine what a great offensive mind could do with a guy like that nowadays.

Only knock is his height at 6'0. However, the game seems to only be trending more and more in the direction of shorter QB's who can run, scramble and feel the pocket. Brees and Russell have had success for years. The first overall pick in this spring's draft was a 5'9 QB.

Marino is the obvious choice. Fran Tarkenton and Otto Graham are two that haven't been mentioned yet that crossed my mind.

Less obvious choice - Steve Grogan.

Watching him trying to beat Joe Montana 49ers with 6 knee surgeries was brutal.
If he got Brady's protection.......

Rookie season, Patriots go 3-11.
1976 NE Patriots go 11-3, are the AFC wildcard team.
1977 NE Final season with 14-game schedule.
1978 NEPatriots go 11-5, win division.
1979 NE Final season Grogan would start all games.
1980 NE Knee surgery, April. Sprains left knee (9/21), right knee (9/28).
1981 NEWeek 2 neck injury, misses 4 games. Week 11, knee injury, out for rest of season. Patriots go 2-14.
1982 NE Strike-shortened season. Patriots make playoffs.
1983 NEHighest QB rating playing at least 10 games. Breaks leg (11/20). Patriots go 8-8.
1984 NE
1985 NE Breaks leg and injures medial collateral ligament (11/24). Lose to the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XX.
1986 NE Has (throwing) elbow surgery in off-season. Patriots go 11-5, win division.
1987 NE Strike-shortened season.
1988 NE Neck surgery in off-season. Head and neck injury (11/15), out three games. Breaks left hand (12/20).

I'm convinced Otto Graham would still be great in the modern era and would thus rightfully be recognized in the conversation for best ever.

He had the arm, the accuracy, the mobility and that it factor when it comes to winning.
