I like Dalton,he's middle of the pack some where in the 15th-20th range and considering he has only played 1 season that's pretty good

My issue wouldn't be with the ranking - not that I agree, but with the person (generally speaking) giving the ranking. While QB isn't a relatively overly difficult position to rank, rarely does an "analyst" put any real effort in actually analyzing players at a position.

Jaworski's probably the best analyst of the QB position in the media. everything he said about Palmer is spot-on, and the rankings fair enough. I couldnt find the Dalton clip on youtube, but the Palmer one is there

Ron Jaworski rates Carson Palmer - YouTube

I may have posted this before, but since it's relevant to the conversation, here's the list I wrote up about a month ago:

My NFL Top 10: Quarterbacks - Stripe Hype

I think your top five is spot on.....I would rank Peyton sixth going in, even off the year off, and I think he is poised to move into the top five......I would probably move Romo to seventh and leave the rest of your top ten in order which would move Schaub just out of the top ten.....it's all subjective though, and I probably think more of Romo than most.....

I just kept Manning out completely, not because I don't think he'll be good, because I think he'll be fine, but it didn't seem fair to rank somebody who missed the entire season.

15-20 sounds about right. You can make an argument for as high as 15 or low as 20...

Trying to rank a guy with only 1 year under his belt is difficult to say the least. Especially when you consider how little time they had to prepare last year to see what he may fully be capable of in this offense with Gruden.
