Kemba his rookie year: 78.9%. Kemba will do what he always does, hit around 85%. You think Lonzo will make 50% this year? Last year he was 45.1%. The kid can play. But that FT% for a PG is troubling. Hopefully for all you Laker fans he'll show some improvement. But he won't fix his FT woes by the start of the season.

Kemba attempted 213 his rookie year. Lonzo attempted 71. That's a MUCH smaller sample size, less than 2 per game. Anyone can step up an miss 1 or both of their first 2 from the line. Often, that's all Lonzo took in any given game.

My only point is his FT% for a PG is lousy. I don't care how many FT attempts he had last year. You think he can improve from 45% to say 60% for this season? It's not a good thing when your starting PG is a liability on the floor late in close games.

The comment you quoted I was talking about Lonzo. You should know that just by the mention of FT%. And do you think Rondo will start over Lonzo? If so you're crazier than I thought. No franchise is gonna take a healthy 2nd year player that was the # 2 pick & sit him for a player that's 12 years older.

This is how clueless you really are. Lonzo recently had knee surgery. What do you expect the GM to say? That Lonzo will be 100% for sure opening night? Of course there's a chance Rondo could very well be the starter once the season tips off.

Of course they said the starting positions are open for competition. Some of the vets wouldn't have signed otherwise. In the end, those starting spots are the kids' to lose.

FT shooting is all about rhythm. 1.4 a game is not a lot. FT shooting doesn't suddenly change from college.....same distance and all.

3 point shooting is farther in the pros.

No good shooter is going to shoot 46% from the FT line over a full season though. Not going to happen. Small sample size or not.

If it was a fluke and he is really a 65% FT shooter, well that sucks too.
