I could be wrong but it kind of seems like Michigan fans and the administration have kind of hit a point where they are ok with hanging in the 8-10 win range even if it only lands them 3rd in the division. Call it shell shock from the Rodriguez/Hoke eras.

The only way Harbaugh ever gets fired is if he completely bombs to a 6 or under win level. Which I dont think is likely.

He would need to get multiple non bowl eligible years in a short span of time. The kool-aid is thick in Ann Arbor.

This clown is easily the most overrated coach in CFB history.

Let's review the facts shall we?

1. Had 1 good season at Stanford
2. Is only 2 games better than Brady Hoke was at Michigan thru their first 3 years
3. Has never won a Big 10 title or beat Ohio State

And as a bonus, he's never won a championship as a player or coach at any level of football.

I can't stop LMFAO at Michigan football for paying this clown $9M per.
says the yokel Alabama Clemson Oihos Taint fan....

Yep.

If it was literally anyone else they would be deep in the hot seat this season. Harbaugh can spin 8-4 with a 3rd/4th place division finish again and be all good though.

I wouldn’t say anyone else would be in the hot seat, he does have two 10-3 seasons but as of right now he is looking like their version of John Cooper who Ohio State kept around for 13 years. He has elevated them to where they were when the were pushing Lloyd Carr out the door because the fans were sick and tired of losing 3 games every year

I dont think Harbaugh will ever get to the point where he starts losing to lower level B1G teams. But he sure has struggled to do much against the better B1G teams and I dont see that changing much. He will continue to win at least 8-10 every year but they are pretty much stuck in the "good but not great" range.

Maybe never is the answer. MI is looking better under his coaching. IMO the big negatives are getting a good Oline coach and him recruiting and developing his own QB talent. Other than that the team is doing well.

I've said this too.

Based on the way they've all embraced Harbaugh's mediocrity, it sure seems they're content to lay down in the status of has-been program.

There were rumors of UoM handing him a lifetime contract last year, for fuck's sake!

"Oh, what's that? You can't beat a single team with a .500 record, and were the only B1G team to lose your bowl game? YOU ARE OUR GUY!!! FOREVER!!!"

It's a safety zone pretty much. He does well enough to probably rarely if ever lose to the bottom of the B1G, but not well enough to regularly beat the better B1G teams. Firing him puts you at risk of another Rich Rod/Hoke disaster.

2 more 8-5 seasons may do it.
He has done much better than Hoke or Rodriguez, so he gets a little leeway. It also depends on how the Ohio State games go. Going 6-7 but winning against Ohio State at the end of the season would save him that year.

He's not a bad coach. Not a great coach either. Better suited for the NFL.

Harbaugh's recruiting hasn't been that great compared to the way Michigan fans talked up how he was going to "hand pick" recruits when he came in.

He's pretty much been hand picking 3*

You aren't going to win on a high level unless you are continuously raking in top 100-200 players

(Using 247 composite)

The 2018 Class
0 Top 100 players
4 Top 200 players
11 of the 20 ranked 500th+ nationally

This year so far you have
1 Top 100
3 Top 200
6 of 19 ranking 500th+ nationally

2017 ill give he landed some upper level recruits, that was by far his best class. However the way things are looking with last year and this year thus far, its not likely to be repeated. The so called "Harbaugh effect" has came and gone (only lasted 1 year)

The flop in the 2018 class is gonna cause problems in the coming years, it doesn't appear hes going to pull in enough of the elite level talent in 19 to make up for it either.

In before a Michigan fan brings up that NW plays in the West.
