Supposedly the Coyotes are going to gauge interest from other teams. This guy is 24 years old. He's their franchise player. If they can't keep him why bother having a hockey team? Even if Bettman decides to leave the Phoenix market they still need players their new fanbase would know about. This doesn't make any sense.

You're putting the cart ahead of the horse...let's see what happens first...there used to be a lot of talk about the Preds moving Shea Weber in much the same fashion..but, as you know, it never happened..

There's a big difference here. The Predators aren't owned by the league. Word is the league won't allow the Coyotes to give Yandle a LONG term deal.

I suspect they are just entertaining offers at this point, hoping for 1 that they can't refuse. I don't think they are desperately trying to get rid of him for prospects and draft picks to call another city home in a few years. The only exception might be Sean Couturier since they could market him as a local kid but would probably only do that if they were planning on playing him right away.

I don't understand why they would even consider it. They just let Jovocop go. Yandle is the face of the franchise going forward. Doan can't play forever. Yandle is just as important to Phoenix as Weber is to Nashville.

Yandle would be a great addition to the Calgary D corps...One of the most underrated defensemen in the league, in my addition.

Well, I'm sure Phoenix would like a defenseman in return, why not JayBo?!? Heck, if Brian Campbell can change teams, why not Bouwmeester?

This is Phoenix they're going to want somebody cheaper.

From an Isles perspective I'd offer them:

Frans Neilson 550K UFA at the end of the year.:D:
Blake Comeau RFA right now. Has been tendered. scored 24 goals last season.
Ty Wishart 22 year old defenseman who looks like he's ready for the show.

Now I know my proposal won't work for Garth. I mean that's 2/3 of Grabner's line. We can't have our 34 goal scorer unhappy & this deal would really piss him off.

Well we are speaking hypothetically and without knowing exactly what type of offers they are entertaining or hoping to get and might have different interpretations of the word "consider", but why not at least consider offers? They have nothing to lose by doing so. There's no committment and they still have the final say if they want to move him. The more options the better. Same logic applies to any team and any player in the league. While some players might be labelled as "untouchable" and for all intents and purposes usually are, nobody is 100% untouchable if the right offer came along. Its just that its often the case that the "right offer" is one that they don't reasonably expect to ever be offered.

If you own your dream house and have no interest in moving whatsoever but then you suddenly hear that there are 4 or 5 people interested in buyng it, some of whom have a lot of money and a reputation for overspending, are you going to tell them no thanks without even listening to what they have to offer? Or are you going to at least listen and then make your decision, knowing that in all likelihood the offer won't be enough but that you might get one you can't refuse, plus you want to at least know what it is that you are turning down and to get a ballpark figure of its current market value? Its a zero risk, marginal reward situation.

You're probably right, but they also have to reach the cap floor. I wonder if Yandle is tired of playing hockey in the desert.

The Yotes have made the playoffs the past two seasons. It hasn't been that bad.

However Bryzgalov is gone & the guys replacing him are backups. Mike Smith, Labarbara & Macilhenny was just signed today. It's going to be a long year in Phoenix. I guess they better hope Visinten develops quickly.

Good point. However, if they do trade him what happens when the next so called untouchable becmes an RFA? At some point a team has to identify it's core players & keep them. Yandle is 24 years old. What happens in a couple years when Ekman-Larsson is an RFA?

Bettman needs to allow this team to move so it can be run propperly.

Yes right now its a mess and I agree that the primary plan should be to build around Yandle and maybe a few others. But they may be feeling the pressure to stop building and win now and could be tempted to stray rom that plan, whether it be the right or wrong move. Not that Yandle couldn't fit into either approach.

They signed Raffi Torres & let Jovocop go to Florida. I don't think those are win now moves.

Certainly not. Unless they are part of a bigger plan but I think we all know that likely isn't the case. Its probably tough for them to sign guys long-term with so much uncertainty which is what a guy Jovo's age was likely looking for.
