What years did the BCS get it wrong

I think most of us can agree that for the most part the BCS did it's job to get the top 2 teams to play in the nation championship game but what year do you feel did the BCS screwed it up.



A year that comes to the top of my head is 2007. LSU jumped from 7 to 2

The exact year escapes me but the year they gave Nebraska the #2 spot when Nebraska not only did not win the Big XII, they didn't even qualify for the Big XII Championship Game, having gotten just curb stomped in their final regular season game by Colorado. They then got the crap kicked out of them by Miami in the BCS Title Game, solidifying the opinion that they had no business being there.

Miami was #1 and would have beaten anybody but no way was Nebraska the second best team come season's end.

2000 and 2001 were the years I think they messed it up.

Miami over Florida State in 2000 and Oregon/Colorado over Nebraska in 2001.

2008 Oklahoma over Texas. It was so silly since Texas literally beat them on a neutral field by 10, just like Florida ended up doing to win the natl title.

2004-Should have been USC vs Aubie
2003-Should have been LSU vs USC

I honestly don't think the state of Alabama could handle Auburn and Alabama playing twice in the same season for the national championship. The Governor would have to declare Martial Law to keep the peace.

2011 was the worst one, 08 was bad as I think Texas should have gone but its tough for Horn fans to bitch too much since TTU beat them and also only had one loss. Honestly in 07 it should have been Kansas over LSU IMO but I understand why LSU got the nod winning the SEC title game where KU didnt make the B12 title game because of their loss to Mizzou.

I think in 2011 Bama and LSU were head and shoulders better than everyone that season. No way Okie State gets in with a loss to IOWA STATE. I know they had a tragic accident to members of the school but no way you lose that game

Once again ( as to 2011 ) the point is not whther Bama was better than OK State. Its irrelevant. The point is that Bama had their chance to play LSU, they had it at home and they lost. The greatest thing about CFB is that every game counts so much. That is literally the thing that separates CFB from every other sport and in 2011 a team was given a second shot instead of a team being given a first one. I can argue the merits of either team ( OK STate or Bama ) all day long as both had great cases but in the end it came down to Bama getting the nod because it said Alabama on their jerseys. If Oklahoma had been 11-1 instead of OK STate then Bama doesnt play in that title game. Period.

The strength of schedule argument can be made but we destroyed everybody we played.
