The combine confirms what the tape shows so eh ? I have seen a few workoutvwarriors bust out

Maybe. But tape can be subjective. And if youre slow at the combine youre probably slow on the field too.

Of course combine warriors bust all the time. All that means is that the combine isnt the end all be all. You could say that about literally any measure of a prospect though. Dismissing the combine is just closing yourself off to important information about prospects.

Alright if I made each selection...

1.17 - Jonathan Allen, DE, Alabama

This one was a no brainer IMO. Maybe it doesnt work out, but I dont think you can pass on him there.

2.17 - DeShone Kizer, QB, Notre Dame*

Ok heres my hot take. I don't really know the whole deal with Cousins right now. But Im only meh on Anderson. I think he'll be a quality player for a long time but his upside is just not that high I think. When I went to check who was available at this pick though, I realized that there wasnt really anybody I loved who wouldnt be a reach - except for one guy. And he happens to play QB. Sue me. Kizer is my favorite QB in this class, and I think a steal in the 2nd. If there was somebody else I loved here Id go with them. But one theres only one guy you love and he happens to play the most important position in football...you take him. That said...after checking who we couldve gotten - I like the Anderson pick a lot more than I initially did.

3.17 - Fabian Moreau, CB, UCLA

I really like this pick. I think its a high upside pick in the 3rd round. Sure hes hurt, but he comes at a discount as a result and I think is more than worth it. Other options wouldve been Cordrea Tankersly, Chris Godwin, and Derek Rivers.

4.07 - Carlos Watkins, DL, Clemson

I'll start by saying I really like Perine and have no problem with that pick. But Watkins is probably a similar level prospect on the DL. Shoring up the DL would be one of my top priorities, and I think theres still a handful of RBs I like. I don't feel I need to take one here. With Watkins and Allen this DL could start to look half decent.

4.17 - Jamaal Williams, RB, BYU

Perine is gone so RB starts getting a little thinner. Ill take one of my favorite prospects in the draft here. Williams has the size, power and moves to be a workhorse back. He hasnt been asked to catch the ball much but I think hes capable. In our offense he can at least split time with Kelley and at most take the reins and be a quality starting RB for us for the length of his rookie contract. Desmond King gets strong consideration here too and honestly I'm not sure who I'd go with between the two.

5.10 - Caleb Brantley, DL, Florida

Its hard to beat this level of prospect in the 5th round. Im not even a huge Brantley fan but in the 5th I say why not take a shot. If he is in trouble you let him go, no big deal. But he has upside easily worth that risk.

6.15 - Bucky Hodges, TE, Virginia Tech

TE isnt a need for us right now but it could quickly become one. This is a deep TE class so a guy like Hodges in the 6th round is a steal. Hard to pass up 6'6", 260, 4.57 speed, and a 39" vertical in the 6th round.

6.25 - Josh Carraway, OLB, TCU

Adding pass rushers is always something Ill support. In the 6th round Carraway has potential to be a situational pass rusher and help us get off the field on 3rd down. Or he could play special teams.

7.12 - KD Cannon, WR, Baylor

Runs a 4.41 with a 37 inch vertical. Exciting big play guy. Surprised he went undrafted.

7.17 - Ishmael Zamora, WR, Baylor

Now Zamora I am NOT surprised went undrafted. But boy is he talented. Hes 6'4", 225, with 4.58 speed, and a 40" vertical. Thats not common in a WR and on top of that hes physical, with soft hands, and surprisingly smooth routes for a guy his size (and for a guy who went to Baylor). His upside is as high as anybody's in this draft class at WR (can you tell I like upside?). Sure he's an asshole and maybe you cant get away with taking Brantley AND Zamora in the same draft but I also dont think you can pass on this much potential in the 7th round.

* - One final thought on the Kizer pick. I wouldve loved to trade up from that spot for Malik McDowell. THAT couldve given us an exciting DL with (you guessed it) crazy upside.

Nice draft I did not take QB in my draft.

1 Allen
2 Mixon I make that trade for Mixon to move up, give up my 2, 4?
3 Derek Rivers DE if Anderson is not available. He was on my board in rd 3
4 Dorian Johnson G selected Dorian Johnson, guard out of Pittsburgh. Not only is the left guard the weakest position on the Redskins' offense, but Johnson was the second best available player remaining on Day 3
5 Desmond King CB Iowa
6 De'Angelo Brown DL
6 Elijah Lee, LB, Kansas State
7 Keionta Davis
7 David Jones FS Richmond

I have been around too many football players to put too much stock in the underwear Olympics. Something that is not measured at the combine is heart, desire etc. These can be invaluable. Remember when everyone was salivating over Griffin 5 years ago ... he was great in shorts.
