i think it had something to do with the number of years on the contract. i think Rendon and his agent said he wouldn't take any offer below 7 and the Rangers offered him 5 yearsThe Rangers tries to be cute in the Rendon negotiations and were embarrassed. In hindsight, it turned out great. It also taught them a lesson and that made them much more aggressive this past offseason.
The Rangers offer for Rendon did come out the way they usually do, through sources. It was nowhere near what had been speculated Rendon would get.
Everything worked out great though.
Seattle overpaid last night.
The Rangers had no business even offering anything.
