What makes the Patriots offense so good and a mismatch?

Lots of people say how having Gronk and Hernandez makes there offense really hard to defend. Why is this? Isnt the basic idea of having two really good TEs that can pass catch is that it makes it tough to defend because they are in a "run formation" but also have just as much potential for passing plays?

With the Patriots, they pretty much suck at running the ball. Doesnt this take away the big advantage of running the two TE formation/offense? Basically shouldnt a defense treat it as a normal passing offense and defend it that way since the Patriots rarely hurt you with their ground game?

Neither AFC teams scares me as much as the Giants. The Ravens game earlier in the year was a not a good indicator of how we match up to that team. We had to go cross country on a very short week and basically had no time to gameplan or practice for that game. We were basically setup to lose by the schedule makers.

The Patriots have not beat a winning team all season in case anyone needed to know. I feel we could slow down their passing game and expose their defense. The Ravens D will not get exposed, but I don't see their passing attack beating us like it did the first time. We can also shut down Ray Rice and make them one dimensional.

The Giants are best overall team left for us to play. That's not say beating the Giants means we win the Super Bowl because well poop happens. I am saying though I would have us as favorites against either AFC team.

I kinda hope if we make the Super Bowl it's against the Patriots though. I think the Civil War game would be to big a distraction for both teams. If it's the Patriots you know which team will get all the press and who the media will favor in the game which sets us up nicely in the underdog role we seem to enjoy playing so much.

What makes it so good? The guy wearing #12. But I'd rather face the Pats' offense than the Ravens' Pass rush & Jimmy Smith coming into his own.

I actually think both AFC teams are more dangerous than the Giants though. But what do I know? I thought the Sainst would beat the Niners.

i think we match up against the giants pretty well. the ravens have a nasty d that can control a game. the pats have the offense to pick us apart.

giants might be the most complete team left in the playoffs.

I would say we're the most complete team in the playoffs. The Giants edge us in offense but we edge them in defense and we blow them out of the water when it comes to special teams.

As far as the Patriots go their success is a little misleading because as Kinzo said they haven't beaten a winning team and struggle actual good defenses. I think we would match up well against the Patriots because we could pressure Brady and the defense's kryptonite is dealing with speed guys which isn't what the Patriots have.

Not very many teams have the collection of DBs needed to defend Welker, Gronk, and Hernandez. Add in the fact you need a nasty pass rush and it's hard to stop them. Brady gets ALL DAY to throw CONSISTENTLY. Averages 2 sacks given up per game. That is gonna get your ass burnt.

Sadly, I think the NFL wants a Giants-Patriots rematch. We're going to see some questionable refereeing on Sunday.

I think the toughest thing about the Pats is that you really have no idea what you're going to see from week to week. Even compared to other complex offenses, the Pats show so many different looks and formations and styles its just impossible to keep up. I think it was Steve Young saying the Patriots offensive players have to learn a huge number of new plays every week.

What makes it so good? The guy wearing #12.

Sickness, hasn't this 49er season done anything for your misperception that the QBs control everything in the NFL? I thought I'd finally be seeing some people accept the fact that systems make QBs succeed more often than QBs make systems succeed.

The Pats offense is so good because of execution and Brady. The tight ends are match-up nightmares because they are big, fast, athletic, and execute well. They can line up with 2 TEs and have a play called that most teams use 4 WRs for. The defense needs to keep the LBs out there to protect against the run because if they bring extra DBs, those TEs will be able to block them and the run will beat them. When they leave the LBs that the TEs can't really block, they attack them throwing the ball. That and Welker has more football IQ than most and knows where to go and Brady knows he will find the opening.

Just do what the Steelers did. Press and force them to get off their routes.

Plus, did NE really not beat anyone with a winning record? that's absolutely shocking and hard to believe that no network picked that up.

my opinion is...............because Brady throws with good timing. a few other QB's are accurate too, but he throws on time so even the TE's can run. he also throws on time to the slot and same result, Welker keeps running.
