What kind of season would Mahomes have to have to retire after it and still make the Hall of Fame?

If for whatever reason either by choice or circumstance that Mahomes retired after next season do you think it is possible for him to make the Hall of Fame? Has he done enough already and if not what would he have to do next year for his short legacy to be so mythical that he still makes it in despite only 3 playing years?

It would even less of a window than Terrell Davis but similiar situation.

I think if Mahomes wins MVP next season as well as the Super Bowl & Super Bowl MVP again then he could retire and be in the Hall of Fame within the decade. I think it might even be possible if he either just won the Super Bowl but not regular season MVP or he just won MVP but not the Super Bowl.

I almost think he could retire tomorrow and he would still eventually get in.

No.

Only 11 players have made the hall of fame playing less than 8 seasons. Even TD played 7.

Fewest games player are these guys

So id argue no chance. Mahomes has played 31

5+ more seasons of what he's done? His season last year was DECENT, but still not INCREDIBLE. Yah his second season was amazing, but HOF worthy after 1.5 good seasons? WTF? Oh let's not forget the STIFF competition out of the AFC :rolleyes2:

Terrell Davis opened the floodgates though for a bunch of 'whatever' players that have 2-3 impactful seasons (not saying Mahomes will only have 2-3 seasons but I guess he's already a lock whereas somehow Wilson is still 'up for debate')? Whatever...

Winning 3 Superbowls this year would make him a certain Hall of Fame candidate.....
It would be crazy to win 3 Superbowls in one year.
I might have to change my mind if that happened!

If he won another MVP and won the SB. I would vote for him to be in the HOF if he retired the following day.

I mean, if Gale Sayers can make it with this resume over 68 games: Gale Sayers Stats | Pro-Football-Reference.com

I don't see why Mahomes shouldn't over 45 or whatever it would be. It would have been the greatest 45 game stretch ever played by any player, ever.

Two MVP's and two SB's. We vote for QB's based on those accomplishments when it takes them 15 years. Why fault him if he did it in three?

I counter your stats with one of my own.
No player has ever made the HOF on just 2 seasons worth of work!

This really isnt debatable!

This is a logical fallacy.

No HOF caliber QB has ever retired after only 2-3 seasons.

It's very debatable. If he should win an MVP and a SB in 2020. Then retire the following day? You absolutely cannot keep him out of the HOF, IMO.

I don't think it could happen after this year, but I could see it happening if he wins the next two SB's. First guy to win 3 in a row, playing at his current MVP level, and then suffers a career ending injury or dies....he's gonna get a lot of sympathetic consideration.

So we are heading into week 13 of the NFL season and not only is Mahomes on path for his 2nd MVP in 3 years as a starting QB but he has the Chiefs on the path to repeat as well.

Let's say he does maintain and wins MVP again this season and the Chiefs do repeat and then, you know, something occurs whatever it might be and this ends up being the last season of his NFL pro career.

He is projected for this season to finish his season with the stats for the year at: 86.8%, 5,087 yards, 44 TDs & 2 interceptions.

That would would put Mahomes at for his short but great 3 years as a starting NFL QB:
-2x MVP
-2x Super Bowl Champion
-2x Super Bowl MVP
-1x Offensive Player of the Year award
-2x First Team All-Pro
-14,449 passing yards
-124 Touchdowns (120 passing, 4 rushing)
-21 Interceptions

How is that not Hall of Fame? I bet those stats are actually better than a number of QBs that are currently in the Hall of Fame for much longer careers.

3 years later. If Mahomes retired today, does he get into the Hall of Fame?

First ballot is my guess.

Now it is becoming an interesting question.
The guy has never loss more than 5 games in any season.
As a starter never passed for less than 4000 yds.
64-16 record with 192 TDs.

Things to consider.
Only 5 years as a starter meaning has his career been long enough to be a HOFer?

Counter question.
Has a multiple NFL MVP player ever not made the HOF?
