USC, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas, Ohio State, Notre Dame ( amongst others ) etc etc?? To 100% KNOW that your team is always going to get the benefit of the doubt or the nod over a lesser known team when it comes to the bowls or the new playoff?? NOt judging, hell Id LOVE it if Iowa were that way. Is it awesome?? Or is it tiring defending your team all the time and do you sometimes feel bad ??

It can be difficult at times, especially when you get negative attention, or when you can't win big bowl games.

No, it's awesome. Even with the whining, it's like being rich and flipping off bums from your limo as it runs through a puddle and splashes water on them.

Well, I'm an Alabama fan and a Cubs fan. I get to experience both sides of this.

Being an Alabama fan is better even with all the crap from bitch ass haters.

But the low times for a successful program tend to hurt a good bit. Cubs lose again? Big deal.

As a Green Bay Packers fan I feel extremely fortunate that for a good chunk of my life they've provided me with a lot of happiness. I rooted for the Cubs for 40 years so I know what losing feels like, I could see multiple generations of my family feel their despair. At one time my Milwaukee Bucks were a top tier team, but that was when I was growing up. It's my speedball, some real good highs and some real low lows. In the end it's better to root for a winner, atleast they would tear your soul out.

Not sure if you meant pro teams too. Oh well.

Rooting for Notre Dame has been tough the last four or five off seasons but I'll die a Notre Dame fan no matter what. Found an old 1964 Sports Illustrated with the Irish on the cover talking about Notre Dame returning to power, couldn't help but chuckle.

It's the greatest.

You lose to Boise State and hear about it for a decade afterwards.

I wouldn't trade it for anything. Knowing that football is taken so seriously in the South, especially Alabama, there is an immense amount of pride in being an Alabama fan through and through. Even during the Shula era I was happy I rooted for Alabama because there is something to lean back on even through the bad times.

One thing I will say about blue bloods is this... Some of them may claim "excellence" but none have been as consistent as Alabama. Alabama has won a championship in nearly every decade since the 20's. The only teams that say those years don't count are the ones that weren't relevant until later years. Alabama has, is, and always be relevant in college football. That's not an opinion... That's a proven fact that proves itself over and over again :suds:
