What was the "news" about her husband other than the death of his grandmother and absence from work? All of the "why this is so" is mere speculation and not news.

True, its a where there's smoke there's fire type deal. Under normal circumstances, well, why even finish that sentence. This is the Redskins afterall. Normal circumstances were told to kick rocks a long time ago.

Washington GM Scot McCloughan isn't at the NFL combine, and it's weird

However, several reports paint a different picture of what might be going on, and given that McCloughan’s specialty is player evaluation and the draft, the reports are pretty notable. Radio host Chris Russell reported on CBS Sports Radio’s 106.7 The Fan that McCloughan has not been at the team facility since Feb. 20 and that he might be getting pushed out of the organization’s decision-making hierarchy.

“McCloughan was sent home from Redskins Park on February 20th and told not to return until the Redskins called him back.

The source said “Bruce [Allen], Jay [Gruden], [Alex] Santos and Doug [Williams] [are] running Redskins.”

The source added “GM [Scot McCloughan] has nothing to do with anything and has not for very long time.”

Additionally, the Post reported that agents have said there is confusion about what is going on in Washington’s front office and that McCloughan was not in the office all last week.

Multiple agents that represent the Redskins’ players have said they were told McCloughan wasn’t in the office last week, and there’s been some confusion with what’s going on in the front office. It’s been a dark cloud hovering over the franchise just a week before the start of the NFL’s free agent signing period, and it’s during a time when Washington has scheduled meetings with the agents of its pending free agents this week at the combine.

McCloughan denied reports that he is being pushed out, stating, “I’m taking care of my family, plain and simple.” Team president Bruce Allen was confronted with the reports as well and merely said, “I’m not getting into speculations” while noting that McCloughan will return to work, “just as soon as things are handled.”

Article claiming the firing of Scotty Mac is bullshit.
'It's all bullsh**, he's not fired' is the word on Scot McCloughan, per source

....."Washington GM Scot McCloughan isn't at the NFL combine" = News

....."and it's weird" = opinion/ commentary

......"several reports paint a different picture of what might be going on" = speculation and commentary on the event. Hell, they're not even reports.

......." he might be getting pushed out of the organization’s decision-making hierarchy." = Again speculation, supposition and opinion.

......“McCloughan was sent home from Redskins Park on February 20th and told not to return until the Redskins called him back." = Once verified News!

The major players are saying death in the family : that could entail a lot of things that have to. Be done

Saying anything else without proof is BS .

Clearly, you haven't had a beloved family member die yet. Good for you. I hope that you don't have to deal with that for a long, long time.

For what it's worth, I don't really care why the Redskins are saying that SM isn't around. He either is taking care of family business, which is fine by me, he's being disciplined for some reason, or he's in rehab or worse. I think we'll find out about the latter soon enough, and appreciate the redskins trying to do right by SM if he's currently battling personal demons.

I don't think it's fishy at all.

Sorry.
Your first comment was absolutely idiotic. You're dead wrong - to say the least.

As for the rest, just because you don't care doesn't mean others aren't entitled to think differently. I think it is a problem.

For the people who do give a damn, When Allen was interviewed yesterday, the question asked was "How is SM doing? Is he okay?" Allen's response was: He's handling a family issue, and he'll be back when the family issue is taken care of. He clearly avoided answering the question. The implication from Allen's answer is that SM isn't ok. And if that's not the case, Allen has intentionally mis-led us through the media - which is not the media's fault.

With the draft and free agency coming up, there are always rumors and strange things being reported by teams to try to smoke screen their intentions. Maybe this is just one of those deals where they don't want to give other teams or the media any inclination on directions they want to go.

Doing things to throw off the other teams does not including leaving your GM home during the combine and creating yet more drama.

Agreed Skinsdad-

I agree with Bobby Knight that the media is a step above prostitution. Not getting political here but it amazes me how the media in our time makes a living of conjuring up stories and embellishing the facts.

I wish the Skins weren't the punching bag of the NFL. SM might be going through cancer or maybe one of his kids is sick or dealing with a life crisis. I believe BA and the team on this one.
I wish the Skins wouldn't make themselves a punching bag of the NFL with all of these unforced PR errors. They control their message. By not having one or communicating through backdoor leaks, it leaves everything open to speculation and scrutiny. As I said earlier, they can end this all today.

My comment wasn't idiotic. Sorry. Either you have never suffered loss, or you have less compassion for your fellow man than you should.

Of course that's just my opinion, as is the rest of my post. Then again, this is an opinion based site.

Everybdoy shares their opinions on this site, including you. You think what I wrote is idiotic. I think it's not.

I don't think you have any right to criticize why SM isn't attending the combine, especially when the answer given was that he was "handling a family matter."

I think that the conclusion that you jumped to, that Allen is "intentionally misleading the media" is the kind of leap to conclusion that people make when they don't have experience dealing with loss. THAT'S why I stated my opinion.

Perhaps there's another shade of grey that could/should be considered here. Perhaps SM's personal demons aren't your concern. Perhaps THAT"S why Bruce Allen isn't oversharing.

Anyway, I've said my piece about this. Respond, don't respond, move on, whatever. Have at it.

Chiller, Allen does not have to detail the personal issues that SM is dealing with to put this to bed. All he has to say is that SM is the GM and will still be the GM when he returns to work. All the speculation is just that. Speculation and mis reads. A definitive statement similar to this would quash 90% of the noise about this issue. No one in fan world cares what the personal issue is, what we want to hear is that there is stability and oneness in the organization. That's not an outlandish expectation given this franchise's history under Dan Snyder's ownership.

A fair and valid point. Thanks.

For the record Ruz and I go back to my first ever message board, I joined on the very first day of this century. He's a good guy, happy he found his way here.

Just don't bring up the story about the bloody clown suit. He's still a little testy about that.

You would assume so, however you never really know. I do agree the whole situation sounds very strange and it seems like this situation is just creating more drama rather than throwing off other teams.

Although whatever the FO/team seems to do, these types of drama get reported by the media. I am not sure if this is just the nature of Allen not getting in front of the media or how he runs the FO.

Sty I support freedom of the press. I also support freedom of me to think a bunch of them are useless boobs on a bull. I didn't say "don't read it." I have said before and I will say now read everything with a filter and a little common sense.

It's like the comment that something stinks in Ashburn because no one grieves their 100 year old grandmother that long. True in most cases but you never know. Now that is not news, that is opinion. News is he is away taking care of his family. Apply the filter however you want. (not addressing this paragraph at you Sty)

We could go on and on about this. I don't really see the point other than to say ME, I will not believe everything I hear in the news. :suds:

I went into the garage and pulled the covers off of an old standard that I honestly think that I would ever need again. To my surprise it still had some power in it and I'm thinking about employing it again here. So, fellas let me ask, will I get inundated with the kind of crap that I got the first time that I started this thread?.......

"Bruce Allen must be fired!"

I hadn't been here for a while because I... was in rehab for that... er, it was a family matter - my cousins contracted skins diseases... yeah, that's it.

DGF meant bloody as in Brittish terminology. Ya know, like me mates gonna watch them bloody Manchester United clowns beat up Chelsea.
