It's only a huge huge issue if the redskins didn't have anybody else, like say their other senior level scouts, at the combine. Since they DO have their scouts at the combine,it's not a huge huge issue.

Also, I echo skinsdad's response to SM's grief processing: who the hell are you to tell anybody else how they should grieve, and on what timeline?

That's a little over the top. Value judgment or not, it's just not believable that he would skip for his grandmother's death when it happened weeks ago. It's clearly bs.

Ok this is what I am going with , BA, SM,and the wife say it's death of the grandmother and that is balanced by the shithead unnamed source. Sorry but for now I am going with BA/SM/wife.

One other thing , any asshole that has to fact check the time of death is a jack off

Leave the guy alone and his family . Who is to say how the greiving process should go

Agreed Skinsdad-

I agree with Bobby Knight that the media is a step above prostitution. Not getting political here but it amazes me how the media in our time makes a living of conjuring up stories and embellishing the facts.

I wish the Skins weren't the punching bag of the NFL. SM might be going through cancer or maybe one of his kids is sick or dealing with a life crisis. I believe BA and the team on this one.

Oh that is my point, the mess of an organization has turned very accomplished men into idiots. It's not the men its the owner. Marty had a damned good resume before landing here, so did Shanahan and Mr. Gibbs. Now add SM to the list. Even before this situation as discussed at length his drafts and FA pickups were very very disappointing to date.

Marty's resume, wasn't damaged coming to DC. Hell, if anything his year in DC was a dry run for his real comeback HC gig with Dago. And he was pretty much the same, good/great reg season, lost for whatever reason in the playoffs HC. That he in his pre-Skins and post-Skins HC gigs.

I don't think Shanny's rep was damaged too much either. At least not after the revelations about how truly hard-headed Griffin was and how entitled Snyder allowed him to be. Plus he did receive 35 million dollars to help soothe whatever damage he attained.

Joe G though............yeah, his rep was tarnished. He did that to himself imo though. He wanted both his job and Bobby Beathard's job. He got em and he did what he wanted and it didn't work out.

In fact from the revelations by Shanny it appears only 2 men, Gibbs and Shotty, were granted control and final say over all player personnel decisions Marty had it his year here and he fucked himself as well to an extent. With his weird decision to keep Jeff Goerge as his starting QB..............2 weeks into the season. Joe G had it the entire time he was here and I think when he realized he wasn't the HC he used to be. Nor should he have been a GM ever. He exited stage left and kinda left the Skins hung out to dry.

Yeah, me to, but it was Snyder that first made the Skins a laughingstock and he's just so fuckin unlikable and a dickhead to boot. So while I may not like it. I see why the media keeps drawing from that well as often as they do.

I agree. Its been said a million times before but he honestly needs to sell the team. He is a 10 year old trapped in a millionaires body.

Again the media is NOT the problem, Bobby Knight is a dickhead and anyone who can't separate opinion from news IS the actual problem.

If the media is just making shit up to garner readers or clicks than yes they are a problem. They are far from the biggest problem though.

If Snyder were a dickhead like Knight was, A dickhead that wins. We'd all just be laughiung at the media and calling them haters. So I guess that makes us (fans) a part of the problem or a separate problem. Everything is contingent on winnning and losing.

Couldn't disagree more. As I said earlier they are about clicks, ratings etc. I believe little of what the report. And I use term report loosely.

Clearly, you haven't had a beloved family member die yet. Good for you. I hope that you don't have to deal with that for a long, long time.

For what it's worth, I don't really care why the Redskins are saying that SM isn't around. He either is taking care of family business, which is fine by me, he's being disciplined for some reason, or he's in rehab or worse. I think we'll find out about the latter soon enough, and appreciate the redskins trying to do right by SM if he's currently battling personal demons.

I don't think it's fishy at all.

Sorry.

Interesting, But even if we were winning that would not make the problem go away. In this country, it appears that we no longer teach critical thinking. As a result news programmers in order to further inform, and fill time in what is now a 24 hour "news" cycle now have discussion panels or in the case of some radio outlets a singular person discussing the issues. NONE, let me repeat, None of that is News.

Here's an example of the same story the first is news and the latter is not. The problem comes when people fail in knowing the difference.

BREAKING NEWS: This just in, Kirk Cousins has agreed to a new $$$$$$ million dollar contract, we are monitoring the park to see if we can get a few words from him. (Everything that follows is discussion/opinion)

BREAKING NEWS: Kirk Cousins will eventually come to terms on a new contract, the team would be crazy to let him go into free agency.

I know that you are a very discerning person and therefore this is not aimed at you.

OK, Fuck it, for everyine who insists that the "NEWS" is the problem, I have a very simple question for you.

NEWS = A report based on fact and/ or certifiable information concerning an event.

Here's the question.......What's LACKING any news called? (Hint it's what we get when there is none )

Sorry.

Well then you would be in the minority. Look we don't know, that's obvious. And you are correct, everyone grieves differently. But let's use a little common sense here:

Grandma was 100 years old, this was not his 14 year old daughter.

The death was a month ago.

SM lives and breaths the draft every waking moment. The combine is his nirvana. He has said the one on one interviews are a critical part of the evaluation, he would not miss this for anything.

He has a drinking problem, a problem that has already cost him 2 jobs where he was doing a great job. This can not simply be dismissed. It's entirely possible that after grandma died he started hanging with Old Grandad.

There is strong evidence of a growing rift between SM and Allen.

I am not claiming I know for sure. But for you to post that you don't see anything fishy at all is kind of puzzling, there is plenty that does not pass the smell test here.

Sty, we don't all have to agree. I would be disappointed in myself if I was in lock step with everyone or even anyone here. Sorry though. I am discerning. I read a book called the 4th Estate or something to effect as a teen. It was about the power and misuse of the press. I couldn't fathom that before, I think back to it often now. I am a discerning person and I think the media is crap. I do agree that we can take what they say and then research and determine what we believe to be true. I call that my God given ability to figure shit out based on the life I have lived. I will never rely on anyone to tell me what I should think.

Sort of like finding articles about AJ McCarron as a possible trade to the Redskins. I used my powers of discernment. :D

We all indeed must agree on how to define "news" which is my point. All of that other BS is just talk, opinion and click bait. Now, the constitutional framers thought enough of a need for a free, adversarial, discerning press that they make it a part of the 1st amendment. Times have changed, but what's "News" has not. For the record, "Fake" or "Alternative fact based" news is also NOT news. Based on what you've written, your issue is not with the news but with news programming. There is a huge difference and the latter is as you've written....Crap!!

BTW: If you find ANY articles about A.J. McCarron as a possible trade here post them. I'd be interested in reading them, especially since it was a suggestion that I presented, because I was discerning enough to think about the possibility of losing Cousins. (powers?? of discernment indeed)

I'm getting a little tired of people saying the media is lying every time they hear stories they don't like, been hearing it for a year. Not saying they are 100% accurate but not everything released is BS.

What was the "news" about her husband other than the death of his grandmother and absence from work? All of the "why this is so" is mere speculation and not news.
