What if CFB used conference relegation

Opposite would happen far more. Why risk losses that can hurt your team and risk going to relegation when you can schedule a patsy instead? I realize you want to say it will impact Oregon playing Bama, neither of which have any fear of relegation, but the mid tier teams would entirely play fluff out of fear from now on.

Non conference opponents woulndt effect it if it is based on your conference position. Lose all 3 or 4 non conference games run the table in the conference and be the champ and you are safe.
You could lose all non conference games and only win 1 conference game so long as another team goes 0-8 or 0-9 in conference.

conference schedule only would suck as well since not every team plays every team. You have seriously imbalanced schedules that teams can't do anything about. Two teams on the bubble in the south with one playing wsu, osu, cal, and uw with the other missing 1 or 2 of those chances for a win.

Another question I would have is how would it effect divisions?
Putting Boise in the Pac while taking out Colorado puts Boise in the South?
