Bruce Allen has suggested that he's considering placing another Tag on Kirk Cousins for the 2018 season. Suppose he actually does this, what happens next?
Silly me, although I do not agree with Bruce and Dan I thought this would be the end of all the Cousin's talk.![]()
@Stymietee If Kirk signs the tag, Bruce tries to pimp him to the Browns first. Kirk doesnt really want to go there. Kirk finds a team he is willing to go to long term and said team, knowing Bruce has painted himself into a corner again tells Bruce, we will take him off your hands. How does a nice new 2019 5th rounder that has the possibility of turning into a third rounder sound??
Again Bruce thumps his chest, but eventually he takes what he can get and spins it as a win for the Redskins.
Interesting, so they don't keep him a prolong the drama for another 365 days?
why spend resources when you dont have too ? there is no real good reason to tag KC , let him go and move on with CDCIf the redskins tag KC, he'll sign it immediately for the reasons already mentioned by everybody except the one trick pony.
If the redskins tag KC, when he signs it, they'll find at least one team that is willing to engage in both a LTD conversation with KC, AND compensation with the Redskins. There'd be virtually no good reason NOT to engage in conversations with either KC and/or the Redskins.
If the Redskins tag KC, it is possible that the Redskins will get slightly more of a return on that investment than a third round pick. I would think that the team that signs KC to a LTD would only have to include a future mid-round pick in addition to a 3rd rounder to get it done. Something like "a fourth rounder this year, AND a third rounder next year."
If the Redskins tag KC, it is also possible that no team negotiates with KC, instead waiting for the Redskins to rescind the tag.
