LeBron James has been lacking effort on the court. If he is going to keep embarrassing himself and get booed at like last time, then he should not be called “King James”. He did so terrible he got booed by the audience. He has probably been lacking effort because the Los Angeles Lakers have lost to several bad teams in the NBA. What’s next, losing to the Denver Nuggets tonight?!!? He also had a certain injury as well. He might be lacking performance too because of that. But still, us NBA fans are still surprised by him being booed at actually being bad.

You do realize Denver is currently 2nd in the West, right?

Maybe he is tired. The minutes he logged last year with the Cavs, plus trying to carry the Lakers are starting to take a toll on him, and he may not be 90 - 100% healed from his injury.

I think its safe to say that LeBron James will not be heralded as the best player in the world when next season starts.

I thought there was a chance he still would be, but next year he will turn 35 in December.

Giannis is entering his prime.

LeBron has held the title of Best Player in the League for longer than anyone I can ever remember. Its been insane how long he has held that title.

but its just about up.

Nothing happened to Lebron. He doesn’t have the usual, multiple superstar teammates (Wade/Bosh, Love/Kyrie) he has had the last 7 or 8 years.

Also — Lebron is at his best when he is getting shots for his teammates. For some reason, he wanted LA to sign players who can’t shoot 3’s, so they could pair them up with the players on LA who already struggled shooting 3’s.

LA needs to overhaul the roster this offseason, because Lebron isn’t winning anything with the players they have.

Lebron does whatever makes him look better or does something to skirt any blame. (see photo for context)

That said, In Lebron's mind it will look better for him for the Lakers to miss the playoff. It will make it look like the "team" was that bad. He is counting on the fact that people won't realize he was the defacto GM of the Lakers weeks before he ever went there.

I think age is finally catching up to him. The guy has been immortal for his entire career and we are finally seeing Father Time catch up to him.

Also, this has always been his mindset, he is going to blame the lackluster season on the team and coaches and not himself. He won't shoulder this bad season. Guarantee Walton is fired at the end of the year and there will be major roster changes for the Lakers as James desperately tries to get a championship in LA within the next 2 years, because I don't think 3 years from now he is going to be able to carry any team and therefore his title shots will be far less attainable.

He’s getting a big dose of Western Conference basketball. He’s been able to sleepwalk through the East his whole career. It also seems as if he’s prolonging mediocrity in LA longer than if they had never signed him in the first place. I mean if LeBron doesn’t win a title in what little window he has in LA, what was the whole point? So he could have some stats in a Lakers uniform? So he could tell his grandkids I played for the Lakers once? If he wanted to live in LA so bad he should’ve chose the Clippers, their roster is/was at the time much better than the Lakers.

Marketing. Although I am sure LeBron would love a ring or two while in LA, his move to Los Angeles wasn't about titles, it was about marketing LeBron and his legacy and things to do after basketball. He's shown interest in being an owner/gm whatever, and working closely with Magic gives him that insight to start. This move wasn't about titles, it was about LeBron James after basketball.
