Take out the hot and we have an agreement.
They won 11 of 16 postseason games. That's a .688 winning percentage against some of the best teams in baseball. That's hot, healthy or not.

It means the most boring sport on the planet is over for a while.
For a team who won 205 games in the previous 2 years I would simply call it Cardinals baseball.
You're not from around here so I can see how you wouldn't get it.
Yeah, and they averaged 82 wins in the following two seasons, so forgive me for not acknowledging the sheer awesomeness that was 2016 Cardinals baseball.
It means close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, winner takes all here. . They get the fame, they get the glory, they're remembered in history. Two men enter , so to speak, one man leaves.Does that make them the best team in baseball for that season? Were the 2001 Diamondbacks better than the 2001 Mariners? What if the Indians win the World Series this year- does that make them better than the Cubs, or any other team in baseball this year? I'm looking forward to interesting opinions
Of course COULD, just like a lesser team could win more games over a 162 team season.
But a seven game series is definitely long enough to prove one's self.
Random playoffs? They play three rounds, mostly seven game series with better record getting home field mainly. That's better than pretty much all othersNot really. Baseball has by far the most random playoffs of the major sports, because even the best team can have a few bad games. The winningest team I think has won the WS only 5 times in the last 20 years, although it sure does feel like the Cubs are going to do it.
Like most baseball arguments there's no absolute 'correct' answer, we are are arguing over semantics. The bottom line to me is which would you rather be a fan of, the team that has the best record in the regular season or the one that wins the WS? Seems like an easy call.

The Cardinals had one of the best 3-4-5 of all time in 2006.
Chris Carpenter missed both of those years.
So do you or don't you factor in injuries???
Cardinals 2006 Rotation: Carpenter, Marquis, Suppan, Mulder, Reyes, Weaver
Cardinals 2007 Rotation: Waino, Braden FUCKING Looper, Kip FUCKING Wells, Anthony Reyes, Joel FUCKING Pineior & Todd FUCKING Wellemeyer
"Same team"

Nope. Look it up man, the 1 seed rarely wins. They almost always do in the NBA for example.
Pujols, Rolen, Edmonds was good.
2011 - Pujols, Holliday, Berkman, Molina was better
its a bigger accomplishment winning your division than it is winning the world series but no one gives a shit about how your regular season went. champion=best team
