"He cost the team 10 wins by himself. He was fuckin' awesome."

Ok.
He hid an injury because he was too proud. It's well known in St. Louis.

If you lack the capacity for abstract thought, I imagine that'd be funny as a mother fucker.

The AL Central is often a weak division, but sometimes is pretty good. Doesn't really have anything to do with the NL Central and it's relative strength in 2006.

In 2006, the NL central was a fucking dumpster fire, that's how the Cardinals won it with only 83 wins.
Much like the AL, the AL Central was a heaping like of shit this year.

Teams at any serious level never look ahead. You're an idiot if you think they do.

If Bama is playing Our Lady of Perpetual Losses U., they're still preparing for that team, not any subsequent opponent. 'Looking ahead' is just dumb loser fan talk. Meaningless

"Did what it took to win." Could you clarify your statement, and not in a cliche this time?
Because you have to go out there and play one game at a time.
God willing you will......... nvm

Its a long season, have to know when to rest players etc... Yeah there is luck involved and teams do get hot at the right time but you win the series your the best by definition.

So, you mean to tell me that one of the shitty players on the 2006 Cardinals was in part responsible for them not being a great team? That's fascinating. Tell me more.

They had the worst SoS in baseball and still had the fewest wins of the eight playoff teams.

They were in a shitty division so they were able to eek out a trip to the dance, got healthy/hot at the perfect time, smoked through eleven wins and became the champs. It's an awesome story, and I love it because of what happened to them in '04, but to think they were the best team of the 2006 MLB season is silly.

Izzy blew some saves that year but that was Wainright's coming out party and as a reliever. Remember the curve ball to Beltran in NYC? Yadi's HR in NYC? That Cards team had it coming. They got killed in 2004 to a buzzsaw/Boston.

Division may matter to win the division, but then it's anyone's ballgame. Still have to win 3 out of 5, then 4 out of 7 to get to the WS right?

Hell think if it was like march madness? I think if the MLB, NBA, and NHL were like the NFL or march madness then you could claim THE BEST TEAM MAY NOT HAVE WON.

Not that it's relevant to the 2006 Cardinals because it's not, but I would not disagree that the 2016 Indians would have had a more difficult path to the postseason in other divisions.

Still, 83 wins would have finished third, not first.

I can tell you're trolling now but I'll play along since you're failing.

A season record is not a snapshot of a team's quality. There is way too much thay goes on in the regular season for it to be the sole deciding factor.

The Cardinals post season roster was greatly different from their opening day roster. Saying the team that won the World Series is the same team that one 83 games is ignorant.

I think baseball is such a long season it is mostly based on a team that gets hot at the right time

The Cardinals had one of the best 3-4-5 of all time in 2006.

Seems like you feel that I'm saying that the Cardinals didn't deserve their 2006 championship. That's not the case at all. A team has to win 11 (or now possibly 12) games against presumably the best teams in the game before any other team. That's damn impressive.

I just don't believe "champ" is always synonymous with "best."

I don't agree with the comparison of the MLB and NFL postseasons, though.

A 7-game MLB postseason series could represent at most 4.3% of the 162-game regular season.

One NFL postseason game represents 6.3% of the 16-game regular season.

Tough to compare that.

I'm failing. That's a trip. Self awareness isn't your strong suit, huh?

I suppose the disconnect here is I hold the results of a 162-game season in higher regard than you do.

From my perspective, claiming a team that barely won more games than they lost was unquestionably the best in baseball is beyond ignorant.

And before you get your cheer jersey in a twist, I'm fucking with you. Kind of. i'm pretty sure when the "looking ahead" comment was made, it wasn't meant to say that Team A is not preparing for Team B AT ALL, just that sometimes they think they've got a win in the bag and don't feel like giving 100% to preparation. Don't be so obtuse all the time just for the sake of it.

A team winning the world series means I don't have to hear any more about baseball for at least a couple months.

Nah, the only disconnect is you ignoring the injuries the Cardinals faced in 2006.

People with zero perspective say they got hot smart people who were paying attention say they got healthy.
