Did the defense recover the fumble? No. Why do they get rewarded for it? I think it’s the dumbest rule in the NFL. Reward a team for doing absolutely nothing. A RB goes 80 yards on a run. As he’s getting ready to cross the end zone he switches the ball to his other hand and fumbles it out of bounds into the end zone. Yes, he’s a moron for fumbling it. But it makes zero sense to give the ball to the defense.
The offense fucked up. Fucked up in the biggest of ways (while they were about to score). They should lose.

I'm willing to bet that "Many" in this case is the Great Minority.

I dont think we are in the minority. I heard Colin Cowherd talking about this too along with a bunch of others.

A big fuck up into the end zone should come with a big penalty.

I disagree. Maybe the ball should be turned over but not awarded yards on top of that too for doing absolutely nothing.

The need to only get 1 foot in bounds
Make pass interference a 15 yard penalty at most
Make holding by the O a 5 yard penalty
My ass is pulling dudes down every time they run by me if that's the case. Think there is a lot of PI now, wait until that rule kicks in...

Doing nothing. Causing a fumble is, many times, a great skill.

I think we found the issue. You listen to Colin Cowturd.

I agree, but if it is an automatic first down, I don't think it will be the norm.

If you are resigning a player you drafted you get some sort of salary cap discount.
I like the idea of that, but cannot think of an actual way to handle it that I think is good. The cap would get even more confusing. There is already an advantage in that only the current team can resign them before they become FAs. But of course that is offset by the risk that the player may get worse or get injured. Tough call

I would like to see it made as simple as - IF a player has played for a team for at least 10 years, his salary does not count against the cap.

That would be cool. It would let franchise favorites finish their careers with their teams.

But you have to think about how things would actually work IRL. So the Pats could pay Brady $40M per year and he counts zero against the cap? That is a huge advantage.

Colin will be the first to tell you he's gonna talk about anything that will get you to listen.

Now add on to this those talking about it are those complaining about. For those of us who thinks the rule is fine, we don't bring it up unless the complaints start.

Here's the reason it is the way it is.

Because the goal line is involved — and this is a consistent application of the impetus rule,” Blandino said. “Impetus is the force that puts the ball into an end zone. So if a team provides the impetus that puts a ball into their opponent’s end zone . . . then they are responsible for it. They’re responsible for it. And if the ball gets out of bounds through the end zone then it is a touchback. […]
Now let the bolded part soak in for a minute. The O was responsible for the ball the roled out of play beyond the goal. Thus means they lost the right to maintain control.
The rule is 100% RIGHT.

This rule would help Dallas more than any team. Hitchens, Lawrence, Martin. Its like they are getting penalyzed for drafting well and it would keep the best players on your team forever instead of all this movement.

Could work, not sure about his whole salary, maybe get 20% or so break.

Was it recovered by the defense?? Nope. How’s it a turnover? Stupid rule. Oh that’s right... the Cowgirls benefited from such a call. If that’s what ya need to beat the pathetic Raiders.... rock on!
Cheer up charlie. SB's been a week. Your ass still hurting?
