Jerry's last show 7/9/95 Soldier Field Chicago - I also saw Brent Mydland's last show 7/23/90 (July was a tough month on the Dead)

Yes Union Tour 92' Assembly Hall @ U of I

Rush 90' @ University of New Orleans Kiefer Lakefront Arena, my first of MANY Mardi Gras - this concert tale needs a thread all by itself

CU....you saw rush about the same times I did...different locations though. When I saw Rush in Colorado In the late 80's Geddy Lee's hair went down past his waist. When I saw them in the 90's in Germany, he had his hair cut above his ears. It was a weird change.

But they had recently came out with Tom Sawyer and they tore the roof off the place. Geddy lee was pulling strings on the bass, his other had was beating up a key board and he was singing ... all at the same time. The man is a brilliant performer.

Aerosmith was awesome; saw them in Tacoma about 8 or 9 years ago. Lenny Kravitz opened up and was OK, but Aerosmith kicked ass!! They played mostly the older songs...

f'n old ass geazers put on a show. That's great to hear. Steven Tyler's bout as UUugly as they get.

Ahhh I c :suds:

Gaga is ok. But I just think the music before the turn of the millennium was much better than today. I know that makes me sound old, but hey... :noidea:

Aerosmith opened for ZZ Top in 1975 and they had not had a hit yet, and in fact, I had never heard of them. After their opening set was over, we were kind of laughing at the fact that it seemed that Steven Tyler looked like a poor man's Mick Jagger. However, they had just released "Toys in the Attic" and I went out and bought the record. I stopped laughing.

Worst show: Hank Williams, Jr. at the Greek Theater in L.A. in early 80s. He came out and it was obvious that he had partied heavily before the show. He tried to start off with "All My Rowdy Friends," but he screwed up the lyrics so bad, he tried to stop the band and restart. After three or four songs, it was obvious that he was in for a rough night, and his stage crew brought out a folding chair for him to sit on. He lasted for maybe three more songs and they had to help him off the stage. One of the shortest sets I'd ever seen.

Not at all. As far as I am concerned, 1986 was the last year that any "good" music was made

Yeah I listened to everything back then. I "awakened" in college to the Doors, Floyd, Led Zepplin.. But I grew up in the 90's, so I loved Dr. Dre and the west coast gang. Pearl Jam and that gang. Beastie Boys were the shit.

Now I mostly listen to country music.

Rap music in the 90's > now
Rock in the 80's/90's > do we even have rock music anymore?

I haven't been to a concert in a while, but I like some of today's music. Some of my favorites from say the last 20 years.....

Chevelle
Tool
Offspring
3 doors down
Nickle Back
Seither

To name a few.

My wife made me go to some pretty good shows:

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band (3 times), John Cougar Mellencamp, Rolling Stones (with Pearl Jam as the warm up), but....

she also made me suffer and see Celine Dion in Vegas too..blah.

I couldn't sit through Celine without my smart phone and a hockey feed.

Agreed on Geddy, the whole band is infinity talented..........my sister was a protege bassoonist and she said that about a half dozen music professors referenced Rush as the quintessential band in terms of technical perfection, I've seem 'em maybe thirty times all over the country...needless to say they're my favorite band.

• Too many awesome Grateful Dead shows thru the yrs to list. (various venues)
• A few Bruce Springsteen shows back in the late 70's - 80's (various venues )
• Bob Marley & the Wailers, early 80's before he passed. (County Bowl, Santa Barbara)
• The Clash (Combat Rock tour)..1980-81 (County Bowl, Santa Barbara)
• Rolling Stones (Exile on Main St tour w/ Stevie Wonder opening ).....in MSG -NYC 1972
• Earth, Wind & Fire, Kool & the Gang, War (all on the same bill in San Diego....1977)

Literally dozens upon dozens of others makes it difficult to pinpoint and narrow down to 10.
