I’m re-reading the Demond Bagley thrillers. He has some good books, worth reading. But it’s mostly set in Europe and British 007-type characters. Not everyone’s cup of tea.

* Desmond
I like the Desmond Bagley books. I just bought Domino Island (haven't read it yet) which someone discovered a first draft of 30 years after he died.

He knew how to spin a long yard. One of the pioneers of British thrillers. Domino Island good and that, a triller book. You keep reading until the end.

* edit: There are some real works of art of writers of that era. On the American side, John D. MacDonald comes to mind. True master of thrillers that set the tone for many writers to come later.

Just finished Summer of Night by Dan Simmons. First of his books I've read and I'm hooked so plan on blowing through a few of his others:

Just finished up the Joe Abercrombie's First Law trilogy.

Halfway through Razamatazz (Michael Moore) and liking it a lot.

And I have The Cuckoo's Calling waiting which is the first Cormoran Strike novel (Robert Galbraith (JK Rowling by another name).

Lots of time on my hands for a few days now.

Finished the biography of Earnest. Yes, the Earnest P. Worrell. Know what I mean, Vern? You can tell it was written by a novice.

Reading The Handmaid's Tale.

Finished the Old Man's War Series. ...WOW, what a good series.

I’ve been bouncing back and forth between Moore and Pratchett, though I’m much further along with Pratchett. I recently finished Carpe Jugulum.

I am going to need to work more of Pratchett into my routine. Plenty of reading left to do there, so shouldn't be a problem.

Not sure what I'll read after this though. I head to Maine next weekend and will likely need something on my Kindle. Maybe Leviathan Wakes?

recently read Hero of Ages and really enjoyed it. Sanderson is just so good at storytelling.

You like the Hyperion series? I keep thinking about diving in.
I bought Hyperion a few months ago and have it on my shelf. Everything I talked to says it is one of the best books they have ever read.

the sequels not so much...but Hyperion is a must.

Just finished the books in Sanderson's Stormlight Archive series. The Way of Kings, Words of Radiance, Oathbringer, and Rhythm of War. Also zipped through the 2 in between novellas, Edgedancer and Dawnshard. Sanderson really knows what he is doing. I'm thinking about reading some of his other stuff from the Cosmere setting, like the Mistborn series.
