I'm not showing any threads on this topic, so figured I'd start it off.

I usually read 2 books at a time, a fiction and non-fiction.

Right now I'm reading the following -

Shadow of the Wind is one of my favorite books. Even in translation it is a beautifully written book.

Barack Obama is my favorite living politician but I generally don't care much for memoirs.

Just finished reading Straight Man written by Richard Russo who also wrote Empire Falls and Nobody's Fool. Very well written and fairly enjoyable book but not an amazing book.

The Highway, by CJ Box. I read all of his Joe Pickett books. Now I'm reading the Cassie Dewell/Cody Hoyt books.

George Pelecanos - The Wire, Treme, etc.

Great books based in DC.

Next up, Dennis Lehane's 3rd instalment of Kensey and Gennaro in Sacred.

I bought this book, but I a struggling to get started. I feel I have forgotten enough that I would need to go back and read the earlier ones.

I am reading the Odd Thomas series right now, it is all right but I don't love it.

I'm having to do the same. I recently found Way of Kings in a bookstore for 50 cents, so I bought it, re-read it for what is likely the 4th time. Got Words of Radiance out of the library for my vacation coming up. Then Edgedance, then Oathbringer, and then maybe I'll eventually get to Rhythm of War.

I’m re-reading the Demond Bagley thrillers. He has some good books, worth reading. But it’s mostly set in Europe and British 007-type characters. Not everyone’s cup of tea.

For the historically inclined, if you have not read: “Team of Rivals” … do so. It’s a brick, long and winding, but truly a good novel, IMO.

Dennis Lehane - The Given Day

Excellent. 1919 flu epidemic, racism, Babe Ruth...

John Sandford - Ocean Prey

A good read as always.
